Sure Barnes started it but I see Alston getting some days off for the uppercut to nash's face.

Go to 1:43 in the video and watch closely

Feigen provided an interesting insight of the locker room about the skirmish..

"They watched the replays of the rumble, and particularly of Shaquille O'Neal knocking over Rafer Alston, Tracy McGrady and sort of Yao Ming (he mostly pushed Yao and Yao did the rest of the falling on his own).

They found the whole thing funny.

"Weight room," Chuck Hayes shouted. "In the weight room tomorrow, Mac."

"He's 7-2, 360," McGrady responded, his voice raising an octave or two.

Hayes, however, would not let up.

"Macha," he shouted of Rockets strength and conditioning coach Dave Macha. "Macha! Everybody on the court then is in the weight room tomorrow."

More quotes from the players: http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Rockets ... 68-34.html

“[Barnes] just took a cheap shot at me,” said Alston. “If you look at the replay, the ref is standing there watching it. It was a dirty play, he raised his arm. Good thing he didn’t connect with my face and knock my teeth out. I was setting a screen for Mac so he could come off and get a good shot and I don’t know if [Barnes] was frustrated by his game or their game or whatever was going on, but there was no call for that. There was no call for my reaction really but sometimes when someone goes at you like that, you just react.”

“When that happens, no matter what, you have to protect your teammate,” said Yao. “I saw Matt Barnes really lean into Rafer and I thought I had to separate them and don’t let Rafer get hurt. That really can help us because we [stood] together face-to-face against Phoenix as a team.”

Nash: “(Rafer Alston) ran at Matt (Barnes) and so I tried to get in there and help Matt and make sure he wasn’t getting hammered over there and try to defuse the situation and I got pushed to the ground. It happened really quickly.”

Shaq: “It was just a shoving match. I saw somebody push my brother Steve (Nash) and so I came to his aid. It wasn’t anything good.”
(On moving the pile of players during the incident)
“That’s what I do. Move piles.”

I wonder what Tmac is thinking after he saw shaq, his good friend push him to the ground, the only other good friends I can think about who got into a little skirmish is alonzo mourning and larry johnson

I think Barnes/Alston will be suspended for sure, with Nash/T-Mac as probables, and Shaq as a maybe.

Shaq had the most contact he would be most likely suspended after rafer and barnes

Shaq did not care who he was pushing, he pushed everyone.. I don't blame him though. Also, him and Shaq was talking during the game so I am pretty sure Shaq told him what happened

Nashs perception of the situation is so off hes full of crap.

Raefor ran at barnes they were jawing,,,,,then 3 other rockets players grabbed raefor and tried to calm him down,,,,,,not ONE of those players even said a word to barnes,,,,,the situation is diffused for a second. Untill nash just runs up in raefors face when even barnes was calm.

Nash should get the biggest suspension because he escalated the situation,,,,tmac barely pushed nash it was more like get out of here. Shaq also escalated the situation.

If you ask me everyone on the rockets team did nothing to escalate the situation,,,,tmac pushed nash away because what the hell was nash doing going after raefor when the situation was diffused.

Well, Alston did swing at Nash twice, but in the end, who cares, Suns lost which makes me sad.

Oh alston does deserve a minor suspesion as does barnes. So does the referee for watching barnes body check alston and not even call a foul let alone a technical.

Bottom line is the situation would have been done after raefor and barnes got in eachothers face and 3 rockets went after RAEFOR not barnes. After the rockets chose to calm down alston the situation was done. Not one sun approached barnes to restrain him,,,,instead there captain ran at alston while he was being restrained. If i was tmac i would have popped nash one in the mouth for running at his player while there all trying to calm down the situation

Nash Is soft did you see the apparent hard pick McGrady gave him he barley ran into Tmacs chest and started crying plus Tmac was standing there ....dude is either being dramatic to get a call or just plain soft

Whatever was done had to be done. Could have done without Rafer throwing a punch but we can survive a few missed...I imagine 3 games....without Alston. Brooks I think has earned the right to start and we can use Head, McGrady and Barry to rest him. We'll see how it goes but in this league you don't let people come at you like that.
