I've been in school for a while so Saturday's game vs NO was the first Rockets game I had been to in a while. All I have to say is I was disgusted by the fan base. Nobody gave a crap. Everyone was sitting down. Most of the people in the lower areas left at the beginning or midway through the 4th. I felt there was NO homecourt advantage. You would think for a big game like this people would be hyped for the game. Guess not. Maybe it is just me.

Part of the reason why it's like that is because a lot of companies give the seats away to clients, etc. The real fans who are there to watch the game and cheer are stuck either at top or they stay home and watch the game. A lot of the people in the expensive seats are there to make a sale.

This is why Van Gundy came up with the Red Rowdies idea.

You're a fool, it's always been that way. The city of Houston is a Football and Baseball city. The only way they will really cheer for the Rockets is if they jump on the bandwagon in the playoffs or on a historic thing like a winning streak. Other than that, I've never really seen a sell out crowd cheer for the whole game.

Um, you are a fool. I've been to Rockets games in the past and the atmosphere has been 100times better than what it was.

Horrible. I tried to yell and scream. Everyone just looked at me like a dumbass.

Yeah, they do. Best guess is to see previous answer. Remember a lot of people at Rockets games don't know anything about or follow basketball at all. I sat next to a group a couple games ago, one guy who watched it, 4 friends who had never been to a game before and didn't. He was having to explain everything. That's always the case with me when i take friends as well. Stuff like that reduces your cheering. It's confusing if you don't know what everyone's yelling at.

Last game (Boston) I ended up sitting next to a group of drunk businessmen. Those dudes knew how to attend a game

Given the size of Houston, and the resulting long commutes to any of the stadiums, it makes sense that the bulk of people that go to games (often capable of being a 4-6+ hour ordeal when all is said and done) are going to be business clients on free tickets with a high level of disinterest.

We have the same tendancy of not having good crowds in Houston. It happens. I personally feel that we can be a better team if we had better and louder crowd support. For any sport in Houston. Not just the Rockets. I would not mid if we had fans like the Cubs for the Astros and fans like the Kings a few years back.

If only this was the only sports team in Houston, maybe we would be like the Jazz.
