We got Deke Back

Post#1 » by smapor » Tue Dec 30, 2008 7:52 pm

Reported by houston Chron.

At least we got a backup center, hopefully means no more mins for Chuck (he has been horrible this year). However this doesn't solve us being more athletic. Hopefully his biggest impact will be team support and bring us energy.

The Rockets reached an agreement with veteran center Dikembe Mutombo on Tuesday, Rockets GM Daryl Morey said.

Mutombo was signed for the remainder of the season at a pro-rated veteran's minimum contract.

I'm quite shocked; but nonetheless a great move.

In the beginning of the season I was 100% sure he's going to re-sign with us after All-Star weekend. But recent news about Les not wanting to pay too much luxury tax and the way Boston and San Antonio are going after him. I thought we are losing him for sure. I'm glad he's back. Love him even more, not because he's back, because he's not going after a ring and getting the best out of his charity. I know Les, T-Mac, Yao, and others donate lots of money for his charity stuff.

Good , even more than his play we need his leadership.

It's sad when our best motivational speaker communicates via a series of incoherent grunts and gestures.

I am very happy about this move. I like what Matt Bullard just said on the radio: "Even if he never plays a minute he's already made this a better team."

We need someone with his heart on our squad.

DEKE DEKE DEKE DEKE DEKE DEKE

I also wanna know how anyone knows what kind of locker room presence anyone is. News rarely says, if ever. Been expecting this all season, bet the "talks" were just a ploy by Falk to get deke signed. Wouldnt be surprised if Morey was in on it too, even.

I'm surprised he stayed with you guys, but I'm glad he did. He fits in well with the Rocks.

Deke deserves to retire as a rocket, Morey is stupid not signing him earlier in the season. The guy provides so much to the team.

It's just too bad that he won't have enough attempts to get into the three point shootout this year...

This won't be a problem if Deke stops having those karaoke nights.

great news i guess

i sill wish we had used sf3s contract and the pick along with head or hayes or whatever and attempted to get camby. i know thats a stretch but even if its not camby, i'm sure we could have gotten sean williams.. dude was just sent to d league.

and if we traded all those players we could still sign mutombo.
