This isn't a T-Mac bash thread...
This is a thread to distinguish what the majority of the fans wish to happen with McGrady.
We all know McGrady is playing horribly, and the effort lately is lackluster. So lets just talk about what would be the best option for the team concerning him and his contract.

Nobody knows what to do, trading T-Mac for expiring would essentially mean quit on the project and rebuild. Was that our intention coming into the season? Obviously not, but this teams mentality is what holds them back and McGrady is the sole reason why. He sucks. We can't trade him, resting him will likely do no good. We'll play it out this season and once we lose in the first round/don't make the playoffs, then we can through a full throttle rebuild.

I'll be completely honest with you, but right now I don't think we can even trade him for chump change. Seriously, which team will want him on their starting line-up? Even the Oklahoma Thunder will not pull a deal for McGrady.

We can only wait until next season. By then, most teams will look to trade for McGrady because he'll have an expiring contract. The good news for the Rockets is that this team has a lot of cap space in 2010. But we're not sure if Houston is a likely destination for stars such as LeBron, Wade, Bosh, etc.

Assuming that McGrady never bounces back, I see two possibilities:
- Morey thinks we no shot in acquiring a big star in 2010 and he trades McGrady for the best available package in 2009.
- Morey is hopeful for 2010, and let's McGrady's contract to expire. Rockets will have a huge cap space to sign a big name.

Move him and Rafer for Hinrich and Hughes.

I think the Players Union would have something to say about that. They'd probably smack Morey in the mouth with the CBA, and ask him what he thought about those stats.

Sit him until he can play. The injuries have taken their toll on him, both physically and mentally, and he is absolutely useless out there. I doubt the constant bashing has helped his confidence either. He needs some time off to get his head right. Even if the injury thing is just mental, whatever McGrady needs to tell himself to get where he needs to be, that's what we should do. If he thinks he's still hurt, then take another three weeks off, I don't really give a **** at this point. We simply can't have him putting up seven and four point games if we expect to win. He just needs to get to the point where he can score into the high teens every night, and we can be a great basketball team. And if he takes time off, and still plays like crap, then get rid of him.

We knew this was his last chance to do something with this team from the beginning of the season, and despite their **** play recently, the roster is fairly well constructed. Ride it out until the offseason, and blow it up if things don't change drastically.

Wait until next season to make a decision. Don't make any hasty trades that we might regret in the future.

We'll trade JO to you for him. We need a SF & you need a player that plays with heart.

Pretty even trade. JO & T-Mac have similar contracts & both seem to be in decline.

You guys will get more cap relief in the end though...

What about trading him for Marbury at the deadline since New York is looking for cap space in 2010 and they are not too concerned about the 2009 free agent class. They get rid of the Marbury drama and pick up McGrady who will be off the books when they are targeting for anyways.

Then we can sign Crawford, resign Artest, and maybe Bibby or Kidd with Marburys contract coming off the books this year. We gain one year of Yao in his prime instead of waiting till 2010. Crawford and Artest would compliment each other decently.

From a financial stand point, the Knicks won't do this. They'll rather to use those 20 million dollars on players who can help the team make New York a likable destination for LeBron James.

Lets wait till he is fully recovered, before we trade his ass.

Rockets ain't winning a championship this year, may as well do the following.

-Start AB, if he can't produce, it means we need a new PG
-Start Ron Artest and give him more time to mesh with Yao
-Start Wafer (until Shane comes back)
-Bring Dorsey back after Feb for experience
-Trade Head, Hayes + whatever for athletic players and yes even landry.

When T-mac is finally healthy, bring his ass off the bench till we see him want to play basketball.

If we make it to the playoffs great, if not who cares. We ain't going deep in the playoffs, with this team.

I'm pretty sure he's legally (Please Use More Appropriate Word), as well.

At the moment, Yao isn't a concern for two reasons:
1. He's giving his 100% and is still getting his numbers.
2. His contract runs out in 2010, which is soon.

Depending on how he performs this year and next year, we'll resign him or let him walk.

Do you know why he is the 1st option this year? Because nobody else on the team can score. Sure its easy to take him out, pack the paint, when the rest of your team is busy building a house or scared to drive to the paint.

Trust me i hate Yao too (mentally weak), but you don't get rid a Top 3 center in the league, just because the rest of your team can't pick it up. If anything, if we traded T-mac for billups and Prince, Rockets would be balling.

If T-mac actually played 50%, alot of those losses would of been wins.

There's no reason to bash him, he's not doing horribly and he's actually our team's best player right now. I just don't think we'll have championship success with him as a first option. I would be more than happy to keep him if we could get a legit perimeter guy whose capable of leading the team.
