Yao wants T-Mac out

Post#1 » by jw_bskball » Wed Jan 14, 2009 1:35 am

According to article by David Aldridge
http://www.nba.com/2009/news/features/01/13/daily.dose.011309/

The Rockets are putting a positive spin on this, but Waiting for Tracy is a play that nobody in Houston wants to see anymore -- up to and including the big man, Yao Ming.

"They don't speak," an extremely plugged-in person tells me. "And Yao wants him out."

That's not likely this season, as McGrady's $20.3 million is toxic to too many teams' luxury tax plans. Next summer, though, when McGrady will have an expiring, $22.4 million contract, teams may well circle the Rockets looking to make a deal.

If it is reported by any other reporter, I would just brush aside as just another sensational journalism. But Aldridge has good reputation. If this is true, I'm really disappointed in Yao, especially since he really has not done anything in last 3 years to make such demand.

This has to be bull, we've seen Tmac and Yao apparently "talk" about each other, but nothing has been quoted, I don't buy it just yet.

PLEASE tell me this is true. Yao Ming works his behind off all year long, he gets hurt but comes back with no complaints. McGrady is the anti-Yao, get him the hell out of Houston and I may start rooting for the Rockets again.

Dude, seriously, does that sound like Yao? Exactly, I'll believe it when I see it come out of his mouth in broken English. No translations, no speculations from "reporters"

Even if Yao did have a problem with McGrady, we all know he's way too soft to let anyone know. He's a coward.

I'll have to agree. Even if yao wants Tracy out, he would never make it public.

Who doesn't want T-Mac out these days?

But seriously, I won't believe this until I hear it out of YAO'S mouth, which will likely never happen. This is the same guy against NJ that said McGrady is far and away still the best passer on this team, and mentioned when Mac sat out a game, that he owed a lot for McGrady for bringing us to the playoffs the past two years...

The only reporter that Yao could send this type of message is a Chinese reporter called “Yang Yi”.
other than that is bs.

Dunno. In one breath he says they like each other personally, in the other he says they aren't talking. Still, ever since Feigen soured on McGrady, nothing will surprise me. From the sound of it in the article, even if they're down on him, they're waiting to see how his training goes...

JVG doesn't lie very often.

And he is still very, very close with Yao, Mac, Battier, and Alston.

But he would never do such a thing, even if he does work for the media now.

He loves the Rockets too much.

Alderidge doesn't report crap. So this must be true. Interesting development.

Yeah I agree... Alderidge is a solid reporter. I'm still not sure what to think. But the fact remains (and Aldridge even pointed it out), trading T-Mac is going to be virtually impossible until next year when he is an expiring contract. However the team seems to be responding very well to T-Mac sitting out, so things are looking up.

Lock this thing up, local news just reported that the news anchors exactly 6 minutes ago went to the locker room to ask Yao the statement if this was true; Yao said him and McGrady are on good terms.
