Worst Refs in the League

Post#1 » by moofs » Mon Jan 19, 2009 9:21 pm

Salvatore and Palmer, both of whom always seem to be working the same game, and tend to get stuck on any kind of big game with us.

I'd rather Donaghy any day of the week.

From second post wrote:If anyone wants to start up a lobby/boycott group to get rid of them, I'm all for it. Maybe we could try for no merchandise sales, ticket sales, throw tomatoes at front row seats in any game they officiate (armed with signs stating the purpose of the tomatoes), crap I dunno, something. Heck, signs saying "Fire Palmer / Salvatore!!!!" might even work. Can we get the Rowdies in on this?

Dead serious. We need a group dedicated to ridding the league of their pestilence.

p.s.
If we go the sign route, making lots of big signs for FIRE PALMER / SALVATORE and handing them out at games, I'm going to be buying my tickets for that game in cash and only handling the signs with rubber/leather gloves prior to dispersal. No fingerprints.

p.p.s. I'd delete this thread at the point of decision as well. All I'm saying is if I mysteriously disappear in any sort of conjugation with this, you guys know where I went.

Only if the odds are in our favor.

We won on a marginal call when Nene was called for a push-off....

Not to say that Palmer wasn't awful, and don't even start with Salvatore, he called so many bogus fouls against Yao in the Dallas series (especially offensive) and was the one that didn't call the Finley play where he stole the ball while out of bounds.

Yeah that's what I've been reading too, guess Bill and Clyde were wrong. I don't know if that charge was legit either.

Edit: I went back and watched that play several times, it wasn't much contact and Hayes arguably flopped. Under the normal "etiquette" of the NBA that's a no-call at that stage in the game. If you want a comparison, think of the charge that Hayes took on Fisher late in Game 5 against Utah two years ago; THAT was a legitimate charge and deserved to be called that way. This one, not so much. Obviously I will take it as the officiating had screwed over Yao several times egregiously before that.

The charge was legit. They showed a replay from up top and Hayes had position so it wasn't a moving screen. Gosh did we see the same game guys? They showed the replay 3 times at least. ****!!!

The fact that there seem to be a ton of gripes against them just further demonstrates how reliably they suck ass. I didn't see the game, or even read the game thread, just knew that those two are hands-down the worst refs in the league, assumed they called the game like crap (same as always), and figured I'd start up a thread to gripe about them in continuing hopes of getting them fired.

YOU HEAR THAT STERN? I'M GUNNIN' FOR YA' BOY! (not like, literally or anything, but I #&*%^(*# want them gone! NOW!)

If anyone wants to start up a lobby/boycott group to get rid of them, I'm all for it. It was about the only decent call they made down the stretch.

Give me a 6-figure salary, and I'll do a better job than any ref in the league.

Good officiating in a game is when you do not notice the refs. I always notice when Palmer is one of the refs. She is undoubtly one of, if not the worst ref, in the NBA.

She does not make a case for women's equal rights. The WNBA is hard to watch for even my gf says it's just not that exciting because females are inferior in sports. I guess that's not the only thing they are inferior at.

:eyebrows: Would you folks like her to be Violet Palmer's replacement as the only female referee in the NBA?

Any ref crew w/Violet Palmer is automatically going to be horrid. She is the worst ref in the League, but the League can't fire her because she'll slap a gazillion dollar discrimination lawsuit on the League. It's not just the Rockets, she's incompetent against everybody. At least once a game some player will walk away shaking his head and laughing over a Palmer Special, esp after she explains how the alternate reality she lives in led to her call.

Salvatore simply hates home teams. You want him when you're on the road, don't want him at home.

Explains it more, but doesn't really excuse it. C'mon tisbee, you in with me on the sign thing? I bet ribalding or jove'll go for it - and if ribalding won't, some good bourbon ought to fix it.

Benni salvatore takes the cake. But he tried to redeem himself by making the last call of tonights game in favor of the rockets tho. I don't think it cancels out the countless times he made a horrible call.

Us fans, and half the players in the league.

What, the ref's have a hard job. If your team wins, they did an okay job, you lose, they sucked!

Yes, all Ref's make questionable calls, but that is part of the Human element in the game, otherwise, we might as well make every call Via Video replay, and double the the length of time it takes to play a game.

Ref's will make mistakes, as they are Human. It's us fans who are infalliable.

I usually don't complain about all refs, and don't limit my complaints to emotion-filled irrational rants after a loss, as evidenced by posting this after a win. These two suck and have consistently sucked for years.
