Ron Artest trade idea thread

Its getting crystal clear that the Ron Artest experiment isn't working. Artest is a ball stopper and so is Tmac. They both also happen to be high volume low percentage shooters. Artest and Tmac can't play together. At this point, I dont think we can afford to pay Artest the 10 million per year extension that he wants. He'll probably just walk this offseason leaving us with no compensation. So i propose that we get some value before its too late.

Heres one idea:
Artest, Head for Outlaw, Channing Frye, first round pick

1st McGrady needs to go. Rafer need to go (i admit i said this too) Head needs to go.
everybody needs to chyll. we havent played a more than 10 games together with our top 3. Playoff Time comes around I expect to make it at least conference finals. McGrady is hungrier den ever. I styll believe that he isnt 100%. hes gutting it out. I say till after allstar break. We juss gotta stay in Top 5. we'll make it to Top 3 soon. Have no fear Rockets Fans, we could be like Dallas or Utah right now. and thinking of something positive. we are one of the best teams even without all our players.

Can we wait till we get more practices, and our full team?

How about we trade him for a young wing player like Donte Green, an expiring contract, and a pick?

Dude, that will be awesome!

Haha just not so much with.

Don't know that we'd want to do the Frye/Outlaw for trade, but it might actually work (potentially working trades on RealGM being something of an event).

Just an idea:

Marbury - $20.8m
Jeffries - 6.0, 6.4, 6.9
Nate Robinson - 2.0, rfa
(total money - 41.2m)

for

TMac - $21.1, 23.2
Barry - 1.9, 2.0
Hayes - 1.9, 2.1
(total 52.2)

Rockets: The big attraction here is big money savings in a bad economy - is this something Rockets ownership is after? Also get the best young player in the deal in Nate...a tough minded scorer and ball handler that at this point produces not much different than TMac. A motivated Marbury, who is questionable attitude-wise but can be cut loose if he acts up as half of his salary has been picked up for the season. Jeffries will play hurt, something the Rox have had problems with, a versatile long defender with limited offense but is not a ball stopper and can handle some.

Knicks: Obviously a 2010 move and a 1.5 year rental on TMac.

The real question is do the Rockets think they can contend in the west with this group? If not, is the 11-12 million in savings and chance to cut ties with TMac enough for Rockets ownership?

I agree he's not the best of fits, but considering we likely won't get much better packages than the potential Artest can bring, any major trade is unlikely.

"Getting" T-Mac doesnt mean too much anymore, he's on his last legs. Nate is having a better year than him.

Jeffries' deal sucks but again its only one year more than the 3 rockets in the deal, Houston won't be 2010 players anyway, and even though his deals longer, rockets shed a TON of contract money in this deal. You guys save about 12 million in the deal, so don't be surprised if ownership likes ideas like this more than the fans.

Funny thing about Marbury too is that he can probably help your team more than TMac this year considering health.

so essentially houston is trading tmac for half a year rental of marbury, undersized PG nate robinson and 2010 cap-shrinking contract of jeffries?

are you insane? as a laker fan wanting houston to fall flat on their faces, even i wouldnt wish this on them

id sooner have houston trade tmac for cousin vince

Just like I'd like to see the Lakers choke in the first round after all the fixed playoff series that have benefited them, No offence and I agree on what you said :)

Nice try with the Jeffries salary dump, but you're wrong. Most GMs aren't stupid to accept a contract without some sort of compensation. Neither Marbury nor Robinson is part of that compensation.

There's really been some magnificent artistry going on in the bad trade proposals department this year. I've seen new depths reached on at least 4 occasions and it's not even the AllStar break yet.

We aren't trading McGrady. To whoever said Nash---that isn't happening, Nash is still a player with quite the impact, LOL on clutchfans people were actually talking about if we had Vince Carter we'd be out of the first round, tell me the next time Carter can average 30/7/7, or 27/7/7 in the playoffs, while leading a team to 50 wins with role players. McGrady's value to this team is high (this team has a 30% winning percentage without him), while his contract is EXTREMELY VALUABLE---23 million in expiring is hard to find these days ;)

Ron just needs to start attacking, or working harder to attack. He was 1-10 from the 3 point line, that's worse than Rafer. We need to him to attack, especially with Yao not around, because when Ron attacks the paint gets clogged up with Yao around, but with Yao not here, IMO it's a better option to attack.

You guys need to relax. It's tough integrating players coming back from injuries on the road. We have 10 of 12 @ home with only 1 back-to-back. That means lots of practice, lots of rehab, lots of training. And frankly it's not just the offense, the defense has been looking piss poor as of late as well even in wins. If the team still looks like garbage during this stretch I would be worried but I doubt it.
