Steve Francis Fall from Grace

How could Steve fall so far so fast, or was he just one of the most overrated players ever? He went from All Star in Houston to still good player in Orlando. Then the Knicks where him and Marbury could be brothers. Next on the map Portland who gave him 30 million to go away and then back to the Rockets where he just sat around like an old trophy on the wall collecting dust because he couldn't get himself in shape. The Rockets gave Memphis two draft picks and money just to get him out of the locker room and bring in Mutumbo for his presence in the locker room. Finally Memphis buys him out to go away. The one thing amazing about Francis career is everything went down hill after Mobley got traded to the Kings from Orlando.

Only in the NBA can you refuse to work and make millions. IT'S FANTASTIC

See Stevie Franchise and Stephon Marbury for examples.

He never wanted to let other players be the star...

When JVG wanted to make Yao the star, he wanted to leave
When Dwight Howard began to emerge the same story happend

Another team might find it in their heart to sign him but I doubt it

What I'm wondering is...

Wouldn't teams be more interested in Francis than Marbury? Their talents are similar, yet Francis isn't even half as bad as Marbury in the team chemistry/mental retardation department.

Previously, Francis ditch the Grizz
Now, the Grizz ditch Francis

I don't recall Steve ever saying he wanted to leave Houston.

It's fitting that he and Mobley retire together.

As they say...It's all about the Benjamins!!! He was heart-broken after the trade for T-Mac and milked the system for all he could. In a year or two of not playing he will want to make a comeback and just might just not back in the NBA.

He needs to get back into shape. He never recovered after his injury, and needs to dedicate himself to get back into the swing of things. He still has plenty of gas left in the tank.
