Venting and Ideas

Post#1 » by red96 » Tue Feb 10, 2009 3:11 pm

Hello, this is my first thread and I know there might be similar threads already but I just had to get this out. I have been a Rockets fan since I was 5 and I have never been more fustrated with this teams lack of success. I feel like this because I cant remmeber the last time the Rockets failed fo utilized this much talent. Not doubting Rick's coaching talent but I think this team is better fit for JVG. From Hayes, Shane, Alston, to Deke. They are all JVG type players. He knew how to use Yao better and JVG demanded effort and defence from T-Mac. I even think Ron would have been great with JVG defensive schemes.
The only fault of JVG in my opinion is that he only ran 4 plays(which was predictable and boring) and he played his old guys to much. But damn , I wish we still had that boring offense. At least we were a great defensive team and we were consistant. Atleast we knew who we were and what we were going to get. Right now its like we can almost beat anybody and lose to eveyone. JVG never had no way near this much talent. Since JVG left we added Scola, Landry, Barry, Brooks, Artest, and Von Wafer. WTF? :-? . Compare and play our new additions to our 06-07 starting lineup of Alston, T-Mac, Shane, Howard and Yao and you have a competitive game.

Alston < Brooks
T-Mac > Von Wafer
Shane < Artest
Howard < Landry or Scola
Yao > Scola or Landry
BENCH
Head < or = Barry

 Got Dammit. But now we cant worry about that because we cant get JVG back or fire Rick because that wont make us better. They're not many good coaches availble. So now all we can do is split this team (that could have acheived so much if a few things were different) up and try to save this season. I have lost faith that this team as constructed can win a championship. Like I said in another thread" I acknowledge that I may not be thinking straight but what do you guys think about: T-Mac + Landry for RIP & R.Wallece. Yall think Detroit is that desperate. I know I am." and maybe a Artest+Head or(preferbably) Alston for K.Hinrich(yeah I know, I know)? Maybe replace Ron with Shane in the CHI trade. Do you think Detroit and CHI would do these trades? I dont know if this would work but we would have a lineup of

Hinrich, Brooks (if Alston is traded)
RIP, Barry, Head
Shane, Von Wafer (or replace Shane with Artest)
Wallace, Scola
Yao, Deke

Our starting 5's defence would be solid. A bigger, better shooter and playmaker at PG. A good scorer and great fit for the offence in RIP. And we get the perfect PF (Wallace)for Yao without lossing Scola with Wafer, Barry, and Brooks also off the bench. Better fits and defence(potentially) without a loss in offensive production. I think it just limits our 2010 maneuvorability. Hey, I just could be tripping because my soul is in pain :-? . Thoughts?

Per the movie, reality bites. I'm interested in figuring out how to explain the constant bitching and stupid trade ideas away (not referring to you personally, just in general - it gets very annoying, and tends to sound like barking dogs to me). Way, waaayy too much of it around here. (but it's also SOP and expected, really)

See the Morey thread/interview to see notes about "2010". It's standard media hype insofar as we're concerned, and desperation makes for bad trades. Blinebury surprised me in his blog today with [ http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2009/02/rock ... es_th.html ] saying "In other words, you don't trade Tracy McGrady for anyone that makes the money match just because you're mad at him. (OK, you do that in the fantasy trade-blog world, but in the real world, you calm down and only trade for players you actually want.)". He's half-right, you should be calm, but ideally you never lose your head like that in the first place, having accepted your state and been evaluating things the entire time. This season has been an absolutely foreseeable outcome - the question is what the next step is. Much as I'd like it, doubtful it's at the trade deadline this year, since that'd be a great way for teams to push us around now and/or in the future. Grond phrased it nicely in another thread, "From what we know of him a mid-season move would seem unlikely. He's pretty much unflappable, and is too smart to deal from a position of weakness."
Morey 2020.
