Rafer Alston Appreciation Thread
Someone has to do it.....
Thank you Rafer for the memories. Eventhough you're mighty inconsistent, I'll never forget the 22 game winning streak that you help orchestrate. And your patented skip to my lou move to the basket. And your silky smooth tear drop that hits nothing but air.
Now that Skip is gone, who is going to be the escape goat?
Juwan-----> Skip------> ?

Good question. My guess is Luther Head even though he gets 0 playing time.

Thanks, I don't think I'll forget that 31 point game against the Lakers to put us #1 in the West, and cap off the 2nd longest winning streak in NBA History. Maybe things could have been different against Utah had he played the whole series healthy, we were 2-1 with him in the lineup for the full game, and that's with only one of those games being at home.

Re: Rafer Alston Appreciation Thread
I think i'll miss Alston screaming "YAO YAO YAO" asking for the ball to start a fast break.
That always cracks me up.

good luck on the magic, you will have a better chance to make the second round there, howard/lewis/turkolgu don't spend 3/4's of the season injured.

Appreciation for what. This guy was the single most reason after injuries as to why we never succeeded. When another team's scouting report says "Double off of him...don't bother rotating to him" then you fail as an NBA player.
The Magic and their fans were desperate and Alston may provide some help for em b/c he is better than Johnson. But they will soon come to realize just how many open shots this guy misses on a nightly basis.

Out of curiosity, do you ACTUALLY know that other teams' scouting reports said that, which teams, and how do you know? You've always said this before in a way that made it sound like you just thought they said that.

A few teams that I can't remember...their announcers over the years have mentioned something along those lines. The actual quote is my own. I dunno if it says it in that manner. But some announcers for other teams regularly comment on how their team is supposed to leave him open and double off of him b/c he isn't a good shooter.

And yet, you are giggling like a school girl over the acquisition of Kyle Lowry. You do realize he's a career 25% 3 point shooter right? Right?

Actually you are quite mistaken. I am giggling like a school girl b/c Rafer Alston is not a Rocket anymore. I don't care who we got. I think Lowry could help us but he isn't the answer at that position. I am just excited that we got rid of Alston. Nothing more.

To be honest, only TMAC only fans will happy to see this trade.
Hope Yao leave this team ASAP.

That actually makes no sense since this in noway helps T-Mac b/c T-Mac is not longer playing for the Rockets and chances are will never play for the Rockets ever again.
This will help Yao b/c we now have a PG that can actually stay in front of his man thereby better protecting Yao defensively.
Offensively...well....McGrady was our best post entry passer and just general Yao finder. So he isn't there. Alston was a far second in this regard. I don't see why Lowry can't get the ball to Yao. In fact I am sure he is much better at penetrating and dishing than Alston was simply b/c most teams just don't rotate to stop Alston when he penetrates b/c he is likely not gonna make the layup. Lowry will..Yao will get his fair share of gimme baskets.
We didn't upgrade the PG position much but we upgraded it. You can count on that.

Battier needs to handle the ball more in the halfcourt, Suga Shane can get that ball to Yao, make no mistake about it.
In Suga Shane I trust.

We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.
