It Is 100% That T-Mac Is Out For The Season (Finally!)

Rockets guard Tracy McGrady will have season-ending microfracture surgery on Tuesday, the team announced Monday.

McGrady met with the Dr. Brian Cole, who will perform the surgery, in Chicago on Monday. Cole is considered an expert in alternative procedures, but the recommendation that he have the microfracture procedure remained unchanged.

He's been my favorite player since 2000, so it's kind of sad seeing him go down like this, but he's enjoyed one hell of a career aside from playoff success. This season was tough for him, and I doubt we ever see that vintage T-Mac, I'm glad he's saying it's over since the Rockets are playing much better without an injured McGrady. I'm happy with all he's provided in the past 4 years (even though the playoffs game 7 loses weren't all on him, obviously he has a way of speaking to the media the wrong way). Though 2 scoring tittles, 7 all star apperances, 7 time all nba team (2 first , 3 second, 2 third), 22 game winning streak, most clutch play in NBA history, and 2 time top 5 in MVP voting, 4 time top 10 in MVP voting, 6th all-time playoff PER, 4th all time playoff PPG isn't bad at all for a player that hasn't even turned 30 yet. Good riddance, and I'm finally happy that all the drama is now officially over.

One word...closure.

We'll be ok. We won't be winning any playoff rounds but we probably wouldn't have with McGrady either. Time to start saving money for Wade.

I was more frustrated with the way he handled his situation which predates to the beginning of the season. Had to he took the right initiative in this whole process, the fans would have been more appreciative of him.

Even if he comes back next season, I think his career with as a Rocket is over. He had separated himself with from the rest of the organization and the team has been utterly disappointed with his actions. I will be surprised if Morey offers him any kind of contract, whether that's the veteran's minimum or the MLE.

Regardless of how it went down (big 'regardless' I know), it's a shame Mac had to suffer this in the season where it finally looks like we have the pieces to compete.

Hopefully there's something to this 'non-weight-bearing' stuff and he can come back in some sort of productive shape.

Frankly, the way he's handled the situation has left a sour taste in my mouth, he's the guy that got me into basketball, and made it an addiction. Nonetheless for that same reason, I don't want the lasting image to be a missed reverse dunk and a 1-9 shooting performance, but unfortunately, I don't see any better performances, or an "old" tmac back. He doesn't have the work ethic OR the mental desire to come back from such a large surgery. Look at what happened when he had a simple off-season surgery, he still isn't fully healed.

good luck, TMAC! Here comes a question that who should be next superstar to lead Rox, to help Yao?

Is this officially that Rox should fire all the training staff or whoever relate to this unfortunate event?

Same here. But i dont think his work ethic has anything to do with his injuries, the guys body is injury prone. Look at Gerald wallace that guy gets injured all the time and is a complete animal. He plays 120% everytime hes on the court he just doesnt have the body. Mentally ya tmac has completely broken down and this year there was no doubt about it. None of us know the life he lives outside of basketball eventhough you all assume hes smilling eating donuts in his million dollar house, he may suffer from depression etc. If you know what your capable of and your body keeps giving up on you it definately takes its toll mentally. I mean look at TJ ford who worked on his running floater more in the off sesaon to avoid a lot of contact.

Hopefully tmac recovers mentally and physically and signs for the vet minimum and just brings it hard. You guys might disagree but i feel for the guy this was the one year he knew he could go deep in the playoffs and his body gave up on him. He realized he was bringing his team down and couldnt do much offensively and especially defensively and he had to take a seat. The guy definately handles himself wrong to the media and to his team but its a reflection of his life off the court probably. On and off the court hes probably breaking down and his team AND family are probably both frusterated with him

IMO if we find the right match-up I think we can get to the 2nd or 3rd round.

Read the article. The Rocket team physician said they opted for a more conservative approach instead of doing the microfracture surgery last May. Major f***-up by the doctors involved.
That his knee was starting to do what it did last yr-swelling,fluids needing to be drained and pain-killing injections so strong the doctor limited them to a total of three last yr for fear of addiction.
A reputation ruined and a yr wasted because McGrady got the wrong medical advice.
