"I am sorry in the delay of my blog, it certainly has been a crazy couple of weeks. I am sure all of you know that we have had some big news with the Rockets. First of all, Tracy McGrady has announced that he will be out the rest of the year with a very complicated microfracture surgery. Tracy has obviously been hurt all year, you can only hope he recovers from this serious surgery.

Many players have undergone this type of surgery. Some players, like Amare Stoudemire and Jason Kidd, have come back successfully while other players have not been so lucky. Hopefully Tracy works hard to rehabilitate his knee after surgery so he can regain his form and become a good player once again.

The Rockets have also traded Rafer Alston to the Orlando Magic for Kyle Lowry and Brian Cook. Rafer was a good point guard for this team and he won many games for us. I know he is happy going to another playoff team and will do well in Orlando. Rafer was always a good teammate to me and I wish him nothing but success.

I think that you will quickly become a fan of Kyle Lowry. He is a tough player who you never have to worry about playing hard. He always plays hard. He is a great defensive point guard and is great in the open court. He will be a great addition to this team and I am excited.

We now have two very quick point guards that will push the tempo of the game. Many people are worried that we are too small in the backcourt, but I think both Aaron and Kyle will do a great job for us. I believe that they will create matchup problems much like Tony Parker does against bigger guards in the league.

We have played with great enthusiasm and passion for the last two weeks, consequently, we are playing at a high level. While most people think that our chances of winning big are done now that McGrady is out, I think we are in a position to pleasantly surprise people! Stay tuned!

Many people wanted to know why I am so tan! I had a fantastic All-Star break in Mayakoba, Mexico with my wife and my best friend Indiana Pacer Mike Dunleavy Jr. and his wife Sarah. We had so much fun just relaxing and reading books and magazines by the pool. I tan very easily, so after sitting in the sun for 4 days, you can imagine how dark I became. I love the All-Star break because I come back to the season refreshed and ready to dedicate myself to the team again and focus on winning games. Here are a few pictures from my mini-vacation. I hope you enjoy them."

Talk to you soon,

Shane

Best friend Mike huh? that's pretty crazy, I've never associated the two.

Yeah, they played for two years together at Duke.
