OH NO! Rockets release Luther Head

CHICAGO — The Rockets released guard Luther Head on Saturday, in time for him to be picked up by another team before Sunday's deadline to be eligible for the post-season.

"Luther has been a great player and representative for the Rockets organization," Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said. When it became clear he wasn't going to see minutes in our rotation, he maintained his professional demeanor and continued to work hard every day."

Head, who was with the team for Saturday's game in his hometown, played in only 22 games this season, averaging 4.8 points in 14.6 minutes per game. A first-round pick out of Illinois, he averaged 8.8 points in his three NBA seasons, making 42.2 percent of his shots.

The Rockets had attempted to find a place for him before the trade deadline, but Head was out with a sore right foot. He had been cleared to play this week.

Does that mean Sam Cassell or Robert Horry are on the way?

Damn, I remember a bunch of so called experts saying he would be the Rockets' starting PG by mid-season of his rookie season lol.

You know you suck when even Morey can't trade you for anything.

If only Head could handle the rock it would have worked out. But all he is is a shooter. I think he'll actually end up on contender.

Because its tough at 6'3 when you can only shoot. If he lands in a place where all he needs to do is shoot 3s...he'll be fine.

Okay cool...I hope we sign him since we have so many open roster spots. Only thing he would need him to do is shoot.

That's too bad, I've always liked Luther. He's a practice college player, a good teammate, and a classy guy. I hope he signs elsewhere.

Memphis sounds like a reasonable destination. Gay Mayo Head has a lot of potential.

Somebody will sign him for sure , Luther is a NBA player no doubt , he just wasn't enough for us as the 1st guard off the bench like we needed him to be a lot of the time.

it was time

he just does not have much talent...his dribbling is horrible, his mid range jumper and three point shot dropped significantly

I feel sorry for him, he used be a decent three point shooter

Nooooooo!
Now my name is obsolete, nothing more than a reminder of Luther's once high standing in the eyes of Rockets fans.
It's a good thing no one notices me anyways.

Wonder if Head would have helped tonight.

Damn, maybe he's our good luck charm, then again his inability to create his own shot wouldn't have helped at all in this game, lol.
