Carl Landry Shot

Post#1 » by vargavpugh » Tue Mar 17, 2009 2:12 pm

Hey Guys-I'm from Milwaukee and normally follow the Bucks board but I have to let Rocket fans know that Carl Landry was shot in the leg last night in New Orleans after the game and is in stable condition. Media release within the next couple hours but a friend received a call from his mom in the middle of the night. I'll post any updates on the Bucks board, but just wanted to keep his fans informed.

No. Really? I haven't seen anything in the news yet....

EDIT: http://www.khou.com/news/local/crime/st ... c5be7.html

Crap!

EDIT #2: Another article http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/ ... y_shooting

He may miss a month, but he's expected to make a full recovery and has already been released. Also the shooting was in HOU.

I thought this was going to be about a "shot" he made in the game, but WOW. This blows, will he be back in time for the playoffs at least? We NEED him these next 2 weeks, he's one of our best offensive rebounders, hustlers, and aggressive players.

Too much crime in Houston.

Was it random?

Baller, you should change your sig to who is in and out of our lineup. For example, Landry would have that giant X.

The incident happened in Houston, not New Orleans right? Anyway, that's a major blow, here's to a good recovery, he's a large part of the team, his hustle alone last night was a huge reason we won the game. . .

What are the odds that the guy that shot him feels like a total dumbass right now?

LOL what the hell is that? It's a damn shame when some fool tries to shoot you because they are upset that they hit your car. Are you freaking serious!? What the hell kind of jacked up mentality do you have to have to pull some as stupid as that.

Are you really going to risk putting yourself behind bars for years or possibly life or some dumb **** like that? My God, how stupid can you be? I'm just baffled that someone would be that moronic, hitting someone else car now constitutes as enough beef to shoot someone over? :nonono:

I hope the person that shot at Landry was in a gang or some other organization. I hope one of the higher ups find out he did this and whoops his ass for being so damn stupid. Just dumb as hell.

I've had a bullet go less than a foot past my head (per the glass holes, with the ricochet hitting my leg) in a drive-by just like this before. Do not like people like that.

I hope it is just an accident not that Carl has been involved some organization or some craps like that.

hmm where was Tmac last night? just kidding. Glad it wasn't more serious. Funny how they always say downtown is the safest part of Houston. Cut James White and sign a PF to a 10 day contract.

A few weeks ago, I saw Carl at a grocery store in the area. It's not a good area, I grew up there. I moved out a while back. We referred to the Kroger as the "Crack Kroger" because, obviously, you would often run into crack heads on the way out asking--demanding--you for money.

The area is right outside of downtown, behind the Toyota Center. The area is seeing much gentrification and they're building Urban Lofts all over the place. He probably lives in one of those. Houston doesn't have zoning regulations so you can see these trendy, hundred thousand dollar lofts next to an abandoned, rundown home.

Incidentally, when I saw him that day at the grocery store, I went up to him and kinda smacked him on the shoulder and said "You're a hell of a player." He was gracious and was like "Thanks, man." The dude was solid. Felt like he had no fat on that deltoid.

I felt like an idiot after. I mean, I couldn't come up with anything better than "You're a hell of a player"? I should've thrown out his rookie stats or something to let him know I wasn't some fair-weather fan.
