At the end of the first OT Adeledman puts in chuck for Yao. Chuck is a 6'6" player. Ironically, the PG of the pistons, Rodney stuckey is 6'6". If he gets a frigin layup...why is the coaching staff surprised?

Chuck is our best defender and stop blaming it on Chuck. He was by far our best and most consistent defender. Lowry cheated off that screen and it led to a wide-open path for Stuckey. As a matter of fact, Lowry doesn't defend the pick-and-roll well.

He wasn't blaming Chuck, its more of a question to do with RA and why he feels subbing in Chuck for Yao is better for defense. Yao provides shot blocking but can't switch on pick and rolls well, Chuck can switch with any man on the floor and guard him but can't block shots and lose some possible rebounding due to height. I think RA needs to get rid of that mentality, I think with Yao in the game and Chuck at the 4, Stuckey wouldn't have made that layup.. RA just too stubborn

With Yao they would call a foul. Good substitution.

Stuckey is 6'4" not 6'6". Yao is our worst pick and roll defender. It was Hayes mistake to come to top to guard Stuckey. IMO he had an off night, should just let him shoot. But Stuckey split the defender beautifully. Too bad Scola aint Mutombo to block that layup.

Im sure they were trying to defend the perimeter....

but you have to admit... this team has been weak defending the perimeter for many years now...

for me...

late in any game I would give them the outside shot... and take away the paint with Deke

As I just posted in the game thread:

They were anticipating p'n'r. Therefore they sub'd on Hayes so they could switch. Problem was, Hayes overplayed on the p'n'r and Stuckey easily split the gap.

As most people said, Chuck can switch on the pick and rolls. Yao has a hard time defending those, and if he gets stuck on a switch guarding a little guy it's almost an automatic 2.

Chuck for Yao is a good substitution there until Landry's defense improves and / or Yao magically gets faster and more agile.

Too bad Chuck isn't much of a shot blocker, though....

this wasn't a knock on Chuck its just that I'd rather see Deke in the game in those situations...

For an easier bucket? They would run a PnR with his man and drive right past him. Chuck tried to cheat and Stucky made a hell of a move.
