He hit that game winning shot for the Clippers a few days ago and now he goes off for 21. Can someone remind me what we got out of that trade?

We traded the GOAT shooter to get the GOAT slasher. Basically we were deciding between Larry Bird and Michael Jordan.

The Los Angeles Clippers today acquired forward Steve Novak from the Houston Rockets, Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor announced. In return, Houston will have the option to exchange second round picks with the Clippers in 2011.

I live in LA and have watched quite a few minutes of Clip games(g** are they bad!). Novak can shoot,but still can't defend anybody.
As to trade,the Rockets moved him because they needed cap space,and he wasn't going to get minutes ahead of Scola,Landry or Artest/Battier.

I loved Novak's shooting, but I like Wafer better. Wafer can shoot (occasionally), drive, and play a little D. Novak could only do one of those.
I'm not upset that we got rid of him for basically nothing but a roster spot.

I loved Novak's shooting, but I like Wafer better. Wafer can shoot (occasionally), drive, and play a little D. Novak could only do one of those.

Hahahah I knew this would come up soon....
This is the classic example of any player on a horrible team. Mike james...stephon....Michael Redd, etc etc. I think every forgets that these are PROFESSIONAL bball players and if they get enough shots can put up numbers with the lebrons and kobes of the league. I always look at percentages not PPG, it's a way better analysis of a players ability. Watch, whatever team Bosh goes to he'll be a bust. I've never liked him and I think he's a sorry ass player. Richard lewis is a similar type of player that gets hyped up, but he's not really that good (he plays in the east with the best center in the league).
But b/c they are Pros, you can't ever sleep on a MEM or CHA either though. =/

Not to mention that we often devalue the skills of the "worst" NBA players. Even guys who we'd consider scrubs can completely own most of us at basketball (and most D-Leaguers, for that matter) any time they want. Let me explain:
A friend of mine in Dallas back in 2000 got an opportunity to play against Shawn Bradley in a pick up game.
Yeah, Shawn Bradley.
We think he's a clumsy useless player with no skills, but I swear that guy was hitting shots from everywhere on the floor. The story is that while he of course blocked everyone's shots, he also moved out to the college 3 line and was knocking everything down.
To think, if Bradley can (could?) dominate a bunch of decent college age players, and he "sucked," can you imagine the damage that guys like Lebron and Kobe would inflict on regular non-professionals? Hell, Pros vs. Joes proves my point.
I have no doubt that Novak, even though he's not that great in the league, has more basketball skill than 99% of the population.
Anyway, I'm getting away from the point. Everyone in the NBA can play. What determines a successful team and a good record in the league (people have said this before) is health and team chemistry.
