Bucks/Rockets Trade Scenario

Hey guys, Bucks fan here. As you may or probably do not know, the Bucks are in dire financial straits heading into the offseason. They are likely going to have to let Villanueva walk, leaving their PF situation in shambles. I was wondering what Rockets fans thought of this deal:

Ridnour ($6.5M expiring) and the Bucks 2009 first (9-12 range)

for

Landry/Barry

It allows the Bucks to clear around $1.4M in salary and while I don't think Landry is ideally a starter, he'd give the Bucks their PF on a reasonable contract for two more years.

Thoughts?

Barry signed with Houston so he can retired in Houston just like his father (Rick) and brother (Jon) did. I don't think we will trade him.

Landry is making reasonable salary, which we would like to keep.

We are not looking for expiring contract, since have our biggest ($23M) expiring in T-Mac.

That's looks like a pretty good trade for HOU. I don't think MIL would give up their 1st rd pick for Landry (nor do I believe he is worth one) but I haven't really looked at the 09 draft class to see who is in that range.

Carl Landry is a waaaay better player than whoever that will fall in that draft pick range.

If this were a stronger draft, I'd definitely think about it. But this draft is terrible, and like others have said, Landry is likely to be better (and cost about the same) than anyone who will fall in that range.

Considering that I usually agree with you, I'm curious how this is.

I think Landry has easily attained the production of a decent mid-to-late first round pick when healthy and ungunshot as a fairly exceptional role player. This trade would have us taking on salary, I don't think Ridnour is any better than our current 2 point guards, of which we would now have 3, we get back a draft pick that is not likely to be as good as the player we traded away, and we'd probably follow this mess by trading one of said guards, for whom I doubt we'd get very much. This is all before considering that we've just cut roughly 40-45% of the productivity out of our best position.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee cuts salary, adds to a position they're weak in, loses a player at a position of overstock, and by losing the worst of the platoon to boot.

It looks like we'd hurt both our roster and our finances to help the Bucks, so...?

As a side note, I'm seriously bored as far as internets go right now.

that kid is amazing, i know he puts points on a bad team but he assists, and burns good teams.

i would love if he came to houston

i would do that without thinking. houston has a very thin pg choice, what if brooks/lowry has a problem like ginobili. next season barry will retire like his father and brother. and we dont have any first round. i will miss laundry but wont be too much with hayes and dorsey coming from the bench. they wont support in offence however any second team should focus on run and gun. brooks and wafer will provide enough fire power.

with this trade, next season line up:
starting: lowry/ SG from bucks pick/ artest/ scola/ yao
reserve: brooks/ wafer/ battier/ dorsey/ hayes/ cook

RA trade showed that we are in rebuilding mode now just like the 06, 07 lakers even we are in playoff every year.

I meant lottery pick, but like I said I haven't really looked at this year's draft class closely so I don't know. But I was just saying in general I would trade a talent like Landry for a lottery pick. I mean Landry is great I love him, but it's very questionable he'll ever be a starter. He's undersized, doesn't have much upside, doesn't have much of a post game, and isn't much of a defender. Whereas a lottery pick has the potential of being a starter.

Another bucks fan here with a few notes:

1. If you guys want to keep Barry I doubt that'd be essential for the deal as long as it works contractually

2. I also am unsure about how interested the Rockets would be in Ridnour and about the Bucks' desire to trade him if we can avoid it. What if we include Joe Alexander or something else instead of him?

3. What are your thoughts on a bigger trade involving Richard Jefferson? It would involve you guys taking on more salary, but there are few players of his caliber who could be had as cheaply as him right now. Especially if the Bucks get a PF like Landry we would be able to play Mbah a Moute at his more natural position of SF more, making RJ more and more superflous. Thoguhts on the likelihood of this happening and/or ideas for how it could be done? I presume Scott Skiles would kill for Shane Battier but I also know how highly you guys think of him.

Thanks guys!
