So Why Did Artest Lie About where the elbow landed?

Look at the footage - its from behind the basket so its pretty clear.

Kobe hit him on the R in his jersey but Ron grabs his chin.

The show the footage as Jalen Rose starts talking.

Not saying Kobe didnt deserve punishment. Just wondering why Artest lied and got himself kicked out unessesarily when it wasnt even an elbow to the throat? What was the point?

Also, please note how Ron had his elbow on Kobe's neck.

A swing of the elbow is a swing of the elbow. Putting ur forearm/elbow sometimes on a player to block out or gain position is a legal basketball move. Which would u rather have done to you? You guys are so **** dumb. If you ever played basketball, you would know the difference.

How do you know kobe wasn't aiming for his head and missed? Like I said, if we're gonna start swinging elbows, kobe's the only one that should be afraid.

You're asking the wrong group of people here. Artest would have the best answer to that question.

Regardless of where the elbow landed, I don't think Kobe deserves a suspension. Sure it was dirty, but I think the degree at which the elbow was thrown wasn't that big of a deal. Perhaps Artest's intention was to deliver a message to the league officials/refs to keep both eyes on Kobe because Kobe has pulled some cheap tricks in both games. Maybe with this incident, the refs will start looking at the game more closely - before things get chippy. Players will be reminded that physical plays are okay, and that cheap shots =! physical plays.

EDIT: With that said, I'm glad Kobe didn't get suspended. This has been a great series and I'd much rather see both teams compete at full strength. Well, Fisher's case is a totally different story...

You were all quick to make threads calling Kobe and Lakers out of their name for an elbow to the throat. Talking about how the Lakers lost their cool etc.. Now no one has anything to say when the footage clearly shows that wasnt the case.

THe film doesnt lie moofs, regardless of what you WANT to see.

Kobe got the right punishment. Now that the footage shows the NBA got it right no one has anything to say.

Why I am not suprised.

Anways, G luck to both teams the rest of the way.

This is the better angle. You can clearly see Kobe elbow artest in the neck area before his elbow slides downward onto Artest's chest.

the elbow clearly hits the neck, and when artest starts moving back the angle makes it seem like he got hit on the chest

What are you on crack? Kobe is as guilty as sin. You have obviously never played competitve basketball. A hard elbow to that area is what the issue is. Boo to Kobe and Laker fans.

The elbow, if you zoom in as much as possible which they never did, hit Artest in the throat then slid down. I'm sure there's a couple of guys in here that can zoom in and post the illustration for all to see. Kobe got away with it but he got away with stuff in game one as well. Battier and Artest want to play Kobe more than just the Lakers, simple as that.

There's a precedent for posting those allegations in that light. Suspensions and bans have already happened regardless of what board it was posted on. I don't want to see that kind of non basketball inflammatory statement on any board.
