GET THE BALL TO YAO!!!!

Post#1 » by College Boy » Sat May 9, 2009 4:47 am

When I watch the Rockets play, the biggest thing I see is how well the offense flows when it flows pugh Yao. It appears that we fall apart at the hinges when they stop flowing through Yao. Obvious???? Yes. Now I'm sure that when I see something the people that get the big bucks have seen it, analyzed it, and moved on to the next problem. But my problem is that this problem seems to never go away. It happens every game. Am I trippin, or does something really need to be done about this?

It is frustrating. Our PGs are inept, and the fact that they're on the court with incapable passers such as Artest and Wafer doesn't help the case. It's embarrassing when your best passer is also your best utility player: Shane Battier.

EDIT: I think Lowry is a better matchup against Farmar due to his size. RA might want to consider giving Lowry extended minutes if Farmar starts for the Lakers.

I thought the same thing. We did so well i think middle/end of the 2nd quarter when we focused on getting the ball in the post to Yao and Scola. It seemed like Lowry and Wafer ruined that with their over dribbling drives.

I'm not sure if you folks ever pay attention. Every time when Yao gets the ball in the post, Lakers' defense collapses.

So why doesn't Adleman do something about it?

Lowry should start IMO. We need a steady hand in the backcourt right now rather than a non-aggressive Brooks. LA thrives off fastbreak points and steals and Lowry not only will reduce stupid TOs but also is a better transition defender.

Generally I'm not a fan of starting line-up changes to match-up with other teams in the playoffs as I believe it is a sign of weakness, ruins chemistry, and that most importantly you should reward and trust those who got you to where you are in the playoffs. But in this case our PG position has been in flux all season and Lowry has had as much to do getting us here than AB has. Plus Lowry has shown he can play very effectively w/ the 2nd unit as evidenced by Adelman leaving him out there to close out games.

It may not matter anymore, Yao looked in pain the entire fourth quarter, the series could be over.

It is easier said than done. That has been the Rockets battle-cry the whole season so it is obvious that it won't happen overnight especially in the playoffs where the opposing team has adjusted against it. So yeah its not gonna happen.

Plan B against the Blazers is to hope that Scola and Landry gets open shots as a result of fronting Yao. But apparently, the Rockets are not getting those jumpshots this series. I am not sure what adjustments the Lakers made to negate BOTH Yao and the jumpshooting PF.

well it wont matter now, since Yao is out,

bottom line is there were plenty of games this year, where we went away from the big stiff while he was hot, and wasnt being fronted, we have done that to him his whole career here, previous years I was fine with it, since he was our second option, but this year... there is no excuse

the fronting bull.. never took with me, all this talk about Yao not being able to seal off, guards not being able to see him or willing to pass...

and thats the thing with me, (They didnt make the pass)

if Yao fumbled the ball, over turned it over, and over on every play then fine

but they didnt make the passes....

atleast next year we may have alot of options with trades

Maybe Yao really isnt completely injured. Maybe he is sending a message to his team that he needs the ball.
Why cant we win this game? Yao wasnt getting the ball anyways. [/green]

heh, I think you are right, most the players on the team seem to want to run the ball anyways.

in any event if we had nothing to lose after Tmac went down, we definately having nothing to lose now...

Not really. With Yao we're on par with, but still worse than, the Lakers. Without him, we pretty much have no shot, but might still steal one game.
