Next season fellas

I see the Lakers closing the series out in 6 and i believe that that will also be a blowout.
But look on the bright side rocket fans, we finally got out of the first round, the monkey is finally off our backs and that's something to be happy for.
We can now go into next season with HUGE expectations, not just passing the first round but championship in sight, i believe we could have taken down this Laker team if Yao didn't get injured but sadly that wasn't meant to be, i love Yao to pieces but we desperately need a backup C to at least limit his minutes to no more than 30 mins a game.
I'm also expecting T-Mac to bounce back and be ready for training camp. We have excellent players, role players who know thier role and a GM that knows how to get players and fit within the system. And with a coach like Rick Adelman anything less than a championship would be a failure.
Hang your head up Rocket fans, this series could have been ours if Yao did not get injured but now Laker fans can gloat all they want, but deep inside they were worried that they were going to lose.
Now all we can hope for is for the nuggets to take down this fake team, but even if the fakers win that series, no way i see them beating the cavs.

well what do you want to hear? that the rocket suck? that we need to trade everyone on the roster? get rid of yao? t-mac? adelman?
The rockets did what they were set out to do, win a playoff series, that was the first step, the first step is done.
You cant just leapfrog from a dozen years of mediocrity and failures to all of a sudden championship material, it takes time, the rockets are finally on the right track, they got the right pieces, have the right personnel, have some cap space coming as soon as next season ends, the future is very bright.
Now that the monkey is finally off our back, it's time to set higher goals, the expectations for this season were met, now it's time for new expectations and new heights.

I'm trying to say there's no point in getting your hopes up because we have two fragile stars and have bought into the "hype" every off-season thinking our team is a championship contender. I do think this team has the pieces to get where we want to be, but this so called first step that we took was over five years more intended plan. Our plan was to become a championship team by this POINT, not take five years just to advance past the first round of the playoffs.
And the whole we need experience crap is overblown, the Lakers turned from a mediocre team to a championship contender within a single season, the Celtics went from a perennial lottery team to a championship team within one season. The fact is talent, dedication to defense, health, and OVERALL killer mentality is what win championships. We've shown we do not have the last two aspects, neither the killer mentality or the luck. We should have advanced both in 05 and 07 but couldn't get the job done. Look at our team, we acquired McGrady in hopes of becoming a championship team, and we're giddy about finally getting the first round over five years later.
I'm all for optimism and agree with your points on talent, but when we've heard the same tune over and over again every year the past 5-6 seasons, it's kind of hard to get our hopes up despite advancing for the first time.

Don't forget the other slogan.
Next year we will have T-mac and Yao at full health. LOL LOL LOL LOL
I am almost @ the point, where I am sick of these 2 players.
Yao @ one point redeemed himself by helping us get out of the 1st round, but when he got injured again...........................................seriously that made me think.....wtf can he ever stay healthy to make it to the championship round.
I can see it now.. Next year we get out of the 2nd round, Yao gets injured in the Conference Final. The next year after that, we make it to the championship and its game 6...Yao gets injured and we go on to lose Game 7.
The point is, with Yao, you can never tell when he will get injured, you just know it will happen. Same **** with T-mac, going into the playoffs with injured shoulder, back, knee, finger, etc.

Be thankful for progress. At least we made it out of the first round.
If you seriously thought we were winning a championship with McGrady and Yao out then you are deluded souls.

When is McGrady going to be back? Because I simply CAN'T STAND Ron Artest being our best perimeter option.

I was listening to a Morey interview with Bill Simmons a while back and the question came up if T-Mac and Yao are ever going to win a championship together and Morey said chances are they aren't, but in reality the same can be said of the other 29/30 teams every year. The real question is if you have a talented enough foundation and the right supporting cast. If you do you do it and roll the dice - simple as that.
That said though, next year is more of a question mark than ever. Our supporting cast has gotten better and better ever year but our foundation is breaking apart. I'm not very confident in a 30-year old T-Mac coming back from microfracture surgery. It's true he is a very cerebral player on the court and could still be very effective even if he loses some of his athleticism, but this is T-Mac we're talking about here. How a loss in athleticism would affect him mentally... it could be devastating.

We can't come to next season with huge expectations at all.
We have so many question marks
Can we keep Artest and Wafer?
How will T-Mac look and will he come back?
Will Yao stay healthy?
How will T-Mac and Ron mesh together ?
We really couldn't see it with the Mcgrady we saw this year which was a scrub.
If just one of those things doesn't go our way we have no chance , our supporting cast is good enough , Landry , Brooks , Lowry and Wafer will get better , we need a backup center with size but thats it.

Someone said the micro fracture surgery McGrady got was a "minor" one and not a "major" one? Is this true? and if someone said he'd be back at the start of next season? I just heard this from someone, I'm just trying to get a sense of the truth.

Almost all microfracture surgeries are deemed minor nowadays because they are comparing it to the procedures performed back in the day when it was a relatively new procedure. Amare's surgery was also deemed minor for example and he clearly is not the player he once was. Amare also took a very long time to recover from it, and I would be very, very surprised if T-Mac is back at the start of the season. In fact I think it is far more likely T-Mac will miss the majority of next season (if he plays at all). But regular season we've proven time and time again we are a 50+ win team even w/ numerous major injuries so that's not much of a concern. It's all about health in the playoffs. We need to start managing our stars like Popovich does in SA.

It took Amare about a year to even get on the court effectively, and 2 years to get back to "90%"

I agree with you 100%. We have the talent to make it to the finals but we are never healthy. Ever. We are almost stuck.
If we were to trade Yao we would probably have to make other roster changes(to make PT room) for the player(s) comming back, we would'nt get back Yao's full value, and we trade the hardest position to fill in the league.
If we keep him (no way Les trades him) we can see Yao get injured near the end of every season for the next 6 years.
I dont think it really matter what happens with T-Mac. If we trade him for peices, if we keep him and he comes back like the 05 Mac, or we let him expire and sign a Joe Johnson type player. If Yao's not there in the playoffs it wont matter. Its almost like we cant win with him or without him.
I dont want Yao traded but, as long as he's here the limit of our success starts and ends with his health. Its not far fetched to say that he may never play a whole nba season ever again.
