I think Howard deserved to be on the first team. His team finished the season with a better record, and the fact he was DPOY carries significant weight into the discussion.

Yao basically owned Howard in the regular season as i remember it. But then he had a lot of embarrassing moments too, which caused a lot of damage. and magic LOOKED like a better team for sure.

Before Yao got injured, I was dreaming about a final between Rox and Magic.

Melo should be higher up. He's quietly having a great season with billups there. He's getting more set shots than having to create off the dribble. There's a reason why good PG's make a team sooo much better.

To me Howard and Yao are equal

nah yao should be on the 2nd team. dwight is having a much better playoffs. if yao is gonna struggle to get 10 shots off, and dwigt always getting at least 11 shots...its clear that dwight is the 1st team.

To me Howard and Yao are equal

Dwight is a much better defender and rebounder. People are actually intimidated by him. He runs the floor better and is a much smoother all around player. Yao is a better shooter. But i take dwight over yao any day of the week.

What? The Rockets are a better team then the Magic...but replace Yao with howard and they sweep the lakers. If orlando had yao instead of howard they wouldnt even make the playoffs

That's simply an ignorant statement to make. This regular season swayed me 100% to put Dwight over Yao, but the playoffs have made me re-consider because Dwight Howard isn't a legitimate go-to offensive threat at this point in his career (yet). Yao commands triple teams and forces the opposition to map their entire defensive scheme around HIM; the same can't be said for Dwight Howard (once again, not yet). And don't delude yourselves about their defensive capabilities. Dwight is a better shot blocker for sure, but Yao is a very good man to man defender. Oh, and don't forget that Yao has sealed countless games for us in these playoffs with his phenomenal free-throw shooting...once again, the same can not be said for Dwight Howard.

EDIT: Refutation aside, I still think Dwight Howard deserved to make the 1st team over Yao.
