Reasons to Want the Rockets to beat the Lakers in Game 7

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Fri May 15, 2009 4:47 pm

What are Reasons you would you like the Rockets to win this Series against the Lakers?

To me here are a few

1. Rick Adelman will finally have beaten Phil Jackson in a series.
Adelman coached the 1992 Blazers and 2002 Kings, teams that were good enough to win it all and challenged Phil Jackson's teams tremendously. However, Jackson's teams had the best player in the league at the time (MJ and Shaq) and Adelman couldn't overcome that.

2. Upsets are great to see, it goes to show that even a team that is the prohibitive favorite can falter and gives other teams the notion that even if they just make the playoffs they always have a chance to pull the upset.

3. To advance without T-mac and show him the shenanigans he played this year were unacceptable.

4. It will end the Kobe fanatics saying he is top 5 all time when he doesn't even have a case.

Cheer the underdogs and hard workers, the humble nice guys, the "overachievers" (they really aren't).

Actually do like this one, even if I think lots of them were excusable to a degree, maybe he'll start re-evaluating himself and improve.

The new guy is always topX, that said, Kobe is really, really good, and he's also one of the biggest jerks I've seen in the NBA. Much like Artest after his Sacto stunts, it's really, really hard to root for the guy unless he does some big redemptive work. It's going to be harder for Kobe. Artest only had to redeem being a hot-tempered bonehead, Kobe has to redeem publicly treating people like worthless pawns.

Um....so that we can have a shot at going to the Finals and possibly winning a Championship?

Anyone?

Just tossing that one out there.

And of course, to see the media collectively commit suicide.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Why isn't most of us are from Houston and we want the home to win a reason????

We're not interested in easing Jordan fans' fears of their favorite player being surpassed by Kobe. I do want to see him humbled so his fans will shut up though.

I really doubt alot of people think Kobe is in Top 5. Hes a good player, but no one except young laker fans would put him in the top 5. I mean Michael, Wilt, Kareem, Russell, Magic, Oscar, West, Bird, Shaq, Duncan, etc? Kobe isnt close to top 5. Id even put Hakeem ahead of him as far as leading a team and being a great player. Kobe is a good player who got lucky and had a beast like Shaq on his team during Shaq's prime. Realistically, was Kobe any better than T-Mac, Iverson, Wade, LeBron, Pierce, etc during their primes, or was the only difference that Kobe had Shaq and they didn't? If T-Mac, Iverson, Wade, LeBron, and Pierce all had played with shaq during shaqs prime at the same time as there prime for 8 striaght years, they would all have 3 or more titles also. Wade won one with Shaq and Shaq wasnt even in his prime still, so that proves how well the chips landed for Kobe. He was lucky to have Shaq and wouldnt have a title if it wasnt for him.

5. To see the priceless face of Stern when we win. HAHAHAH if anyone commits suicide, it'd be him.

Rockets & Nuggets in the West finals?? No superstar vs. the "thugs"?? hahahha It's gotta be his worse nightmare.

LA thinks their **** don't stink.....if Kobe ever got traded he'd won't even be in the discussion for any of these crazy LA arguments.

wat kind of thread is this? reasons for the rockets to beat the lakers in game 7?

this is the houston rockets boards in realgm.

why not make a thread like... "do you want the lakers to win every game" in the laker boards?

or...

"do you think lebron is a good player?" in the cavs board

or

"tmac, yao, barry to indiana for granger, murphy, dunleavy, and hibbert" in the rockets board

I agree with all of the reasons listed thus far, my favorite being "And of course, to see the media collectively commit suicide".

I would love for the Houston Rockets to be the cherry on top that ultimately tarnishes Kobe's legacy.

For Mutumbo for all he's done in the NBA to have his career end like that he deserves it and to show that if you work hard and play team baskeball that you can win without having individually dominant players.

Reasons I'd like the Rockets to win:

1)They're my team
2)Because someone might film Shaq watching the Lakers lose
3)I want to see Magic go absolutely ballistic on TNT
4)The chance of an Artest/K-Mart smackdown
5)Because the NBA will have to hype LeBron and the Cavs even more and even they will realize LeBron has less charisma than a dead snail.
6)Because it'd be a public service to the hotel workers in Colorado(wee bit over the line I know, still you might have laughed)
7)So every High School coach in America will keep their memory alive by using the team as an example
8)Because Luis might dance again in the victory parade
9)So everyone will refer to him as "the comedian who looks like Aaron Brooks"
10)Because I want to hear what kind of crazy s*** Ron will say in the after press conference
11)Because I want to see just how vicious Bill Simmons can be
12)And I want the Rockets to win so THE WORLD WILL TREMBLE AT THE AWESOME POWER OF THE RED JACKET!!!

Average Laker fans are spoiled brats, and the Lakers have looked the same. It is time for a team to win again, if not for Houston, than for the respect and love of the game. Not flashing lights, not endorsements, just sheer effort and will. People need to be able to look at the NBA game and see the good values winning.

Pick your villain Artest or Kobe...

Artest might be entertaining but he I find it easier to root for the Olympian than they guy that beet up a guy that was still holding a beer and ruined Reggie Millers career. Those Pacer teams would have been amazing. They were a trade away from being dynasty material.

Miller
Jackson
Artest
ONeal

The best reason?

To prove to David Stern that the NBA is about competition instead of rigging the playoffs for the team that provides the most Sportscenter dunk highlights (aka the Lakers).
