Looking back: Would you do these trades?

Steve Francis for Tracy McGrady - I was the Franchise biggest fan, and he was a monster when he was in H-Town, and when he was hurt, he fought through it and gave it his all. T-Mac was top 3 in the league, but now he's washed up. Sure, Francis is too, but he probably wouldn't be if he stayed on the Rockets and kept on going with his star role. And yes, we got Stevie Franchise back last last season, but we all know it wasnt the same situation hed be in if we didnt trade him.
Rudy Gay for Shane Battier - I love Battier more than the next guy, and his defense, he's a big part to the team. Rudy Gay is the best player on the Grizz(for now), and he'd be a good peice for our offense making Ron Artest unneccesarry(i know i spelled that wrong), and we wouldny have his ass jackin up bricks. Gay would take pressure off Yao, and he's a terrific dunker and has a nice jumper and athleticism.

i mos def woulda done francis for tmac trade
i would not of done the rudy/shane trade. even tho shane is such a daam good baller, and he is a top 5 defender on kobe, imo all that doesnt matter when both our stars became injury prone. with them being out we have no offense but rudy woulda took care of that. we lose defense but rudy woulda been the guy we put on the best scorer, so he woulda got his defense improved and at the same time put up 15ppg.
i love shane, but its unfortunate our 2 best players are injury prone. when its like that you gotta take a step back w/ defense and think about OFFENSE!!!
but o well the rockets are still a contender when healthy...

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
How can you even question these, especially the Francis one?

You can't even question the Francis trade. Francis even at his peak wasn't a superstar.
Personally I'd rather have kept Gay even though Battier brings a lot to the table. I believe we just gave up too much and if we waited another year or two when MEM was having their fire sale we probably could've gotten Battier for less.

Battier has a bball IQ that's outta this world and Gay can put up numbers. I don't know Gay's work ethic but I know shane's and anyone that can study that 20 page spreadsheet on kobe can be on my team any day. Now, If Gay puts up good defensive numbers this year, then I'd say it was a bad trade b/c it would mean he puts in time to get better, plus he's younger.

Yes to both of em.
When will people understand that the Rockets NEVER had intentions to draft Rudy Gay. That is who MEMPHIS told the Rockets to select. I hate to say it but if i remember correctly, had the Battier trade not fallen through, then Houston would have selected Thabo Sefolosha. JVG was really high on that guy.

Damn the tracy mcgrady hate just gets harsher and harsher, are u honestly asking if we should have kept francis over mcgrady. Like wow some of you act like tracy mcgrady was your girlfriend and he cheated on you with your best friend or something.
Yes to both, We had no intention of drafting gay we wnted to draft Roy if he was available or trade the pick, which sounds fine to me.

Yes, yes. No question on either, not now, nor when they were made.
Also I think both topics combined have only come up like maybe twice or something in the last 4 years, so it's not like they're stale.

At first I thought Stro Gay was a bit too much for Battier but after looking at how Stro Gay turned out, I'm glad Morey made that trade.
And McGrady was infinitely better than Steve Francis. I was a Magic fan back then and was absolutely crushed when the deal happened.

1) LOL the Francis one is a no brainier, you do it. The difference between Francis and McGrady is that with McGrady you actually have the right to be a championship contender on a 50+ win team, with an actual locked playoff spot, while with Francis, you're going to be a bottom of the seed fighting for a playoff spot.
The T-Mac hate around Houston has been unreal, I heard some dude say Francis was better than McGrady not only as a Houston Rocket, but even better than Orlando Tracy. Lol, I'd take McGrady in a wheelchair over Francis.
2) yes I liked that deal, and how it worked out for us

First trade is a must imo
Second trade looks alot better right now, Rudy Gay will never be a 20 ppg player with TMac and Yao in lineup, and I wont be surprised if somehow Rudy turn into some sort of locker room problem if he can never get his touches.

1) Yes. No brainer Yes
2) Yes. If Griz did not offer Shane, Rockets would not draft Gay too and will probably trade down to get some one available at ard 10-15th pick. Gay was never on Rocket's radar screen. Don't be fooled by Gay's stats (yes they are good on a fantasy league), that's just good stats on a bad team as no.1 option. See what happen to his stats when Griz drafted and played OJ Mayo big minutes,

Francis/TMac didn't achieve anything in terms of better results, just more expectation (and then disappointment) in the playoffs. Commercially however, pairing Yao with T-Mac was just to good to pass on. With Francis and Yao we weren't going to win.
We were after Thabo Sefolosha. Blame our scouts for not seeing the light with Gay.
