Shawn Marion anyone?

i think we should go after shawn marion... he's a great defender and he still can put up good numbers... it's clear to see that artest wont be back.... so i think marion is a great fit. what do yu guys think?. i also think ariza would fit in our line up perfectly. and i like matt barnes as well as grant hill he's in his prime and he can step in and help houston

now when it comes to the center postion. i think we need a solid backup center who can be a starter if he needs to, i think of three people. 1. Chris "Weezy" Wilcox. wilcox is a sold defender he can score in the paint and he plays with alot of energy. 2. Antonio Mcdyess. he is and will always be remember for his defense and that silky mid range jumper. although he's 6'9. mcdyess still can be a great center. and 3. of course yours truly marcin gortat. gortat played tremendous for orl in the late season and the postseason. he's 6'11 and play pretty decent defese.

as far as t-mac goes. we can't afford to trade him right now. regardless of what anyone says, t-mac is still an elite player. he said it him self that he wants to retire a rocket. look i know he's been injured all the time. but i still believe in the mac man. if yao's foot hell in time and t-mac is healthy i see us goin some where.

Grant Hill is in his prime?

I like the McDyess mention, and agree we shouldn't T-Mac now, and it's much better served at the deadline, but I'm afraid his days of being an elite player is likely gone, and even if he were to return to at least the player he was last season then it won't be with us.

"If Yao's foot heal in time and T-Mac is healthy I see us going somewhere."

That's been the same line every year the past five seasons. And now with McGrady coming off micro-fracture surgery, and Yao being reported out for the season, I don't see how that magically changes (would be so ironic huh, the least anticipated off-season of recent years turns into some sort of magical season, lol). If the reports of offering Artest a one year deal, offering less than what Gortat wants, Morey has come to the acceptance and is truly retooling for the future and the 2010 FA.

As for Marion, I'd decline, he's severely overrated, and truly effective in a running system, which our team doesn't run. He's old, wants long term stability and a big deal, all of which aren't in Morey's plan.

Rockets can't offer much to Marion beyond the MLE. In fact, Rockets can't even offer the full MLE as they need some to sign the rookies they bought from the recent draft. Only a sign and trade scenario is available for Marion. Meaning slim chance.

If the Rockets are only willing to offer Artest a 1 year deal, then why would they offer a multi-year deal to Marion. Its obvious the Rockets are looking to re-tool in 2010. You know what else that means? T-Mac will not be traded either. I guarantee it.

Do what you want with it.

It doesnt make sense to trade him and take on extra salary. Especially if we didnt offer a multi year deal to Artest. The best thing for this team to do is to not sign any long term contracts this off-season. I'm even hesitant about signing Gortat. I know I was preaching for Anderson but I was under the assumption we would bring back Ron Ron. We are not going to be a contending team this year, so why be another first round exit team again?

Let the young guys play this year and develop. This team plays with heart and will still be fun to watch even if we don't make the playoffs. Have Yao sit for the entire year so he can heal. If we get McGrady on the court that would be a bonus. If not who cares anymore.

As far as this off-season is concerned I honestly think we should just sign Oberto instead. A much cheaper option for the Rockets. Use a portion of the MLE to sign Taylor and Budinger to multi year deals ala Joey Dorsey. Artest is gone and likely Von Wafer too, we let T-Mac's contract expire.

Next off-season we have team options on Brooks, Hayes, & Dorsey. I doubt Yao plans on opting out. We would have just 29 million on the books. Say the cap is at 58 mil. We'd got 29 million in cap space. We'd have to re-sign Lowry, Scola, & a lotto pick. Even after doing that, we still have enough money for a MAX FA. That means we would have a chance at one of the following: Amare, Joe Johnson, LBJ, Wade, Bosh and there is many more FA's as well.

Daryl Morey isnt stupid.

Marion without a pass first PG will be disaster. Honestly...how much basketball do you people watch? Now if he wants half the MLE which is what he is worth without a pass first PG...then yea...lets do it. He can be the 4th option.

And no unless we are getting good and I stress GOOD young player or players in return McGrady will expire a Rocket. I just don't get how people fail to realize that we do NOT have to trade McGrady..his contract will expire.

Yep. My point exactly.

That's why the rest of us are just chilling, waiting for the Jedi GM to make his next move.

We (Few? Proud? Marines? Statisticians?) are smart enough to recognize brilliance when we see it. Meanwhile, we will shut the eff up and spend our off season making juvenile jokes. Just to pass the time, of course.

You should seriously join us. It's fun down here.
