Iverson

He's still out there in FA. We could offer him a starting slot. I know we would be a really "short" team, however it's just an idea.

I know, attitude problems, etc. I am just trying to think laterally, as I really thought that Gortat might come to H-town. And what is the news on Wafer? are we re-signing him?

No, we're trying to improve and develop our young players. Not sign someone who'll take the ball away from them...

Gortat isn't worth the MLE. Any player that averaged 12 minutes 4 pts 4 rebounds a game, is not worth that much money. Sounds like another adonal foyle or jerome james.. Please no!

I might consider getting him if he will take MLE for one year like what Memphis offers. Little to lose financially, even though we can't under estimate what damage he can do chemisty-wise.

Gortat gets low minutes because of the roster he is on, not because of his ability. The Magic doesn't slow down when Gortat comes in and D12 goes to the bench. He can run, is a good rebounder and defender, has length and plays with his head. I think his ceiling is a little bit lower than Jeff Foster on rebounding and defense, but he has more offensive capabilities.

If we sign AI, I'm changing my fandom to one of the Greek clubs.

At this point, Brooks is probably\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\bDEFINITELY better than him, and has a much better contract. AI would retire before taking 3m

LOL. No.

Brooks will never be Iverson, even now Iverson will still be significantly better than Aaron Brooks.

He had 1 bad year, one depressing year, and people are writing Iverson off(same applies to Baron), check out the 07-08 season, he had his best year in his career arguably there(outside of the 2001 MVP year). There's no doubt in my mind he's still got game, he still can put up 25/5, but the question is at the expense of what?

He just wants to play and have the ball in hands, he really doesn't WANT to win. Even with what I said, I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.

Prime Brooks will never be Prime Iverson. Even Prime Iverson was not as good as "Prime Iverson", as his entertainment value overshadowed the fact that he's been one of the NBA's worst and most overrated superstars since Pete Maravich.

Look at that closely and tell me how Brooks won't be better than Iverson next year, especially as you don't typically have down years at age 34 so much as you have declines.

I'd agree with you that Iverson's previous year was quite possibly the best of his career. That year and 05/06 were two aberrational years in Iverson's career though, as he's averaged under 4 win shares quite a few times.

Exactly.

Let Chris Wallace take care of Iverson. That team is shaping up nicely.

People need to let next season go. We're not competing next year, we want to develop our youngsters as much as we can and getting AI would go against that.

It was just an idea, as he looks set to sign with Memphis for 1 year at 5.9 (MLE?) I just thought that if it doesn't work, we trade him before the trade deadline. I also thought that we still have the MLE available, as Ariza signed on Yao's injury exception.

Or do we convince Orlando to do a sign and trade for Gortat and perhaps Reddick? I don't know as I originally said, I am just trying to think laterally.

In saying this, I am in favour of playing some youth this season. Let's run teams off the floor with Speed, Speed, Speed! Or sign Newley, figure out a trade to get Jawai from Dallas, Mills from Portland, and Bogut from Milwaukee, and have team Australia representing Houston this season!

He can be our ticket to the 1st pick in the 2010 draft if we tank.
