Landry Vs. Millsap

Post#1 » by College Boy » Fri Jul 17, 2009 4:39 pm

How is it that Millsap is getting these lucrative offers, while Landry only got 3 mill per? I think they're two comparable players with pretty much the same skill set/level.

Landry had only a 1 yr rookie contract and was coming off knee problems both in college and the first part of his rookie yr. If he was a free agent w/a couple of injury free yrs on his resume,he'd be getting MLE-type offers.
Milsap got a larger offer because Portland's GM let his mouth get him into trouble and Utah can't lose both PFs in a season or two.

Uh... because Millsap is pretty much a better player than Landry in every facet of the game? I love Landry as a back-up PF and all but come on. Millsap is a starting quality PF in this league. He proved it last season with Boozer out.

ya milsap is better than landry. milsap can handle the starting pf spot, landry cant handle it aswell but he can play some games starting, but not in the playoffs.

milsap is also great at help defense, 1bl/stl, landry is ok but he's for offense.

but landry is and should be improving for at elast one more year, and i have high hopes for him but if milsap contiues to get better i dont think landry will catch up to him. no worries, landry is a legit backup pf.

well landry hasn't had the same opportunity to start (thankfully)

2 years ago they were pretty even in the playoffs.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Milsap is marginally better Landry. He's definitely not $7miilion a year better. If both guys started a game versus each other, you're not going to see a $7 million dollar difference. All I got to say is 13pts and 8 rebs just got REAL expensive!!!! Utah OVERPAID because Sloan can't stomach Boozer. At the end of the day if Milsap is worth 10 million per, Kevin Pritchard should shut his pie hole and quickly hand La Marcus Aldridge & Brandon Roy MAX contracts!

The numbers portion is definitely skewed. Paul Millsap was definitely asked to do way more than Landry. I believe if Carl was given that same opportunity, he would have been able to, at least, produce 13 & 8. I just don't see what all the hype is about Millsap. I'm not saying he's terrible, but he's certainly not game changer. He's serviceable, yes, but he's not anyone that demands a special game plan or a double team. I thought he was MLE worthy, not $9+ million worthy.
