I'm just curious if you guys might try to get a high pick and dump salary for next summer.
Maybe some of your nice role players might be available? LOL..

Almost everyone can be had. Only if we get upgrades, and we dont really plan on taking long term contracts.

As in blow up the current roster?
No, I don't think that any of the moves that Morey has made suggest that he intends to do that. Under his watch they have assembled a group of very effective, very cost-efficient role players like Scola, Brooks, Landry, Lowry, Hayes and even the highest paid of the group - Battier. The big contracts of the Rockets - Yao & McGrady - will hinder the team somewhat, but not as bad as many outside of Houston think. I do not believe that any team would trade for Yao right now, and I don't believe that he'll opt out, so that will remain on Houston's books.
McGrady is another story entirely. With the salary cap going down, some teams who are desperate for cap room may make a push for McGrady's expiring deal, but unless it is an offer that blows Morey away then the 22+ million cap relief would be more valuable than bringing in questionable or long-term players.
The Rockets are not one of the teams throwing their entire hopes into the 2010 hat, but they will be players in it with the money they will have freed up. The biggest attraction to potential free agents will be the strength of the Rockets situation that they'd be going into, and that is based on those role players you are asking about. One or two may be moved in deals to improve positions, but I don't believe that the Rockets are looking to dump players for future salary...especially since the role players we have are the definintion of bargains!
Going by the moves and non-moves that Morey has made so far this post-season there is no reason to believe that they will blow up the roster, and any rebuilding will be done on the fly with good value players being targeted in any moves.

I think Morey is smart enough to keep teams competitive even during the lean times. If we can get a couple top twenty players (hopefully one of them being a healthy yao) over the next couple of years to go with this core, we'll be competing for a championship.

Sry, we're NOT trading Battier for your Scrub 3: Tony Allen, Scalabrine, and Bill Walker.

Sure, if you include an unprotected lottery pick next year.
