http://www.clutchfans.net/news/1541/ful ... le_leaked/23 of the Rockets first 38 games are on the road -- that will start to balance out in late January when the Rockets have a 6-game homestand. Houston also plays on back-to-back nights on 22 occasions, including a stretch just before Christmas where they will play 6 games in 9 nights.
We tip off the season against Portland.

If - by a miracle of a holy God - the Rox are in contention at the end of the season, at least their March schedule is pretty easy.

So, I'm relatively new as a poster here (have I even made a post before? Hmm...) but I saw this and decided to ask for some real fans' input. I live down in Austin, but I'm hoping to head up to Houston for a Rockets game sometime. I've narrowed it down, on the basis of my school's schedule and some preexisting plans to the following six games:
11/25 Dallas
11/27 San Antonio
12/19 Oklahoma City
12/22 LA Clippers
12/29 New Orleans
12/31 Dallas
I'm wondering which ones you, as the diehard fans, would consider the most appealing.
Also thinking about the 4/2 game in Boston, as I'm applying to a few colleges in the New England area and will want to take another trip up there if I'm accepted into any. (And yes, I'm also looking at Rice and UH for you inquisitive bastards out there)
So, there it is. I look forward to reading your well thought-out responses (all three of you

)

We always have the toughest opening schedule of any team in the league. Let me guess...the Lakers play 19 of their first 20 games at home right?

If we're 5-15 after the first 20 games, i'm bringing out the Tank full force.

We can almost predict when McGrady will start playing from the schedule.
If his rehab is going great,possib Nov 27 against San Antonio,more likely Nov 29 at OKC.(Several off days on homestand for practice.)
If it's like most think,he'll be back Jan 12 @ Charlotte(1 game in preceding 5 days allowing at least 2 practice sessions).
A little later at SA on Jan 22(1 game again in preceding 5 days.)
There's a nice 6 day break for All-Star game,giving team chance to recharge for stretch run. And there's nice little break Mar 10-12 before a brutal stretch of 4 games in 5 nights late March(only night not playing is my Birthday,don't know if that's good or bad!),but they should have a chance to beat all 4.
Guy986,
You can put the Tank back into the garage.
First 20 games can be broken into 3 tiers;
Lakers(2),Blazers(3),Spurs-if healthy(1)....assume 0-6
Dallas(2),Utah,Phoenix,Atl....prob 1-2 wins
OKC(2),GS(2),Kings(2),Memphis,Minn,Clips-all teams that were pretty rancid last yr,played no D and are counting on rookies and extra experience to improve. These are teams the Rockets should be able to beat and I expect 6,maybe 7 wins against this group.
The optimist in me expects an 8-12 record after the first 20.

Don't fine the Rockets organization, fine me. Everything is riding on my shoulders, if the Rockets do get fined, it's on me, I repeat if the Rockets do get fined, ITS ON ME DAMMIT.
(yes, lame attempt I know, lol)

Seven games on "national tv," all of them being on NBATV. So technically if you don't have NBATV, then the Rockets have no nationally televised games. It's a sad day when the Clippers are on the opening night and Christmas schedule.

"...then the Rockets have no nationally televised games"
Look on bright side-we won't miss most of 1Q while TNT airs meaningless post-game interview,promos and the 10,000 commercial before switching.

As a GS fan who has seen his team get shafted on national coverage in years past, I have to say that 0 national tv games for the Rockets is just wrong. I think the Rockets are going to be tough at home even if Yao and TMac never play again. They should have at least given you a few nationally televised home games.

I don't think its wrong. Its understandable. Nobody wants to see an NBA squad led by Luis Scola. We are the definition of a star less team.
