No game threads + a question
Hi guys, Clippers fan here, came by to check for game threads a few times but havent seen any, y'all don't have those?
Also, being a Clipper fan, I can imagine the situation y áll are in: a big mess. I'm hoping the squad which gave the Lakerrs fits in the play offs will continue to do well (- artest). Although I don't like the Ariza signing you have a hard working team.
One thing which isnt clear to me, and maybe not to any of y'all either: What's going to happen with the front court?
I'd say Brooks/Ariza/Battier will take up most minutes at 1,2 and 3. After that it's a bit cloudy to me: Scola will play the four, from what I've heard, and Anderson was signed to bring in a starting five? So far Andersen has looked more like a sf than a c. Hayes is the best defender but he and Landry, who has more talent (?) are really undersized. Then there's Pops who's undersized too, but has been impressive so far.
Can somebody explain to me what will happen, and give a indication of how your tem will spread the minutes available?
Good luck next season!

Hayes will most likely start, there was a recent article where adelman was praising him. He sets good picks and is great at passing from the high post. Andersen needs to get adjusted to the NBA before he even gets consideration to start over Hayes.

Re: No game threads + a question
From what I remember, game threads usually don't start popping up until the regular season starts.
Our roster is a mess. I've been predicting that we'd be in the lotto for a while, and I'm stubbornly sticking to that prediction.
Sure, the loss of Yao was huge, but Wafer going to Greece was the nail in the team's coffin.

Re: No game threads + a question
Yeah, the game threads will start going up with regularity when the regular season starts.
I'm looking forward to this season: no high expectations; lots of chances for players to step up. I know that no one around the league expects jack squat from this roster, and most of them are baffled that we didn't pull an Isiah-esque panic trade following Yao's injury; but that's not how Morey does things.
As for the roster: until Andersen is really ready to go I expect us to have a flexible lineup in terms of starting. Brooks, Ariza, Battier and Scola will all start for now, and Hayes will see some starts at Center (he will against Portland); sometimes Budinger may see a start (but I don't see him carrying many minutes even if he does. We could see a starting lineup with Pops and Scola up front, also.
Opening day I'm thinking that it is Brooks/Ariza/Battier/Scola/Hayes...tho I'd prefer Andersen get the start immediately. I want to see what he can do.

Half of the "so called" Rox fan= Yao Ming fan (including myself), once the great wall is down, it's basically over.

Re: No game threads + a question
game threads are always here in regular season, barely see any preseason threads. hopefully there'll be a thread for almost every game at least , w/ at least 5 pages .. they usually in the 10s or 20s

I'm still betting on 42-48 wins, target of 45.

The problem with comparing that team with this one and trying to predict our record at season's end is that there's no way to take into account the performance of other teams. The '03 HOU team that won 45 did so by sweeping the entire central (if I remember correctly). The east overall is a lot better now than it was in '03, and there are a lot more real contenders in the west. So even if our roster now is a lot better than it was then, there's still no guarantee that we'd win 45.
Also, one advantage that the '03 team has over us now is a healthy Yao Ming.
A second advantage??
Moochie Norris.

EDIT: I found a new avatar.

Man, I loved Moochie. I miss Moochie. I miss Murphy too and his talk of cookies. Oh, what times those were!
