FYI, I am pretty sure Webster will start at SF since Batum is hurt. Outlaw will continue to come off the bench.

Good luck to the Rockets this season.

Lack of size will show tonight against a vastly bigger team. This season is gonna be a long one for this team. But thats the risk you take with injury prone stars. Best case is we hang around .500 until McGrady comes back and hope for a miracle in terms of his health and play. I like our perimeter defense..its our biggest strength. And if Brooks can penetrate to set up teammates instead of looking for shots for himself or just dribbling into 3 pointers I think we may have something offensively to hold us over. Gonna have to rely on Scola in the post...Hayes is gonna pose problems there b/c nobody is gonna guard him and that'll have us playing 4 on 5 basketball offensively.

Anyway we ended last season on a strong note...its just unfortunate that we won't be able to build on that this season.

It's a bit odd, but all good. Hard to not like the Blazers, imo.

Can we add the time and such?

I don't expect a win but I can't wait to see Chuck Hayes destroy the living crap out of LaMarcus Aldridge... on the offensive end.

The thing is, honnestly, I don't see us hanging around 50 %. I think we will give a good fight to a lot of teams, but that we'll come close in a lot of games.
All I want to see is Brooks/Lowry improving, Landry stepping up again, Scola be our leading scorer, and Ariza understanding what it takes to become a much better overall and offensive player.
Not excepting too much in terms of victory.
And I think our biggest problem today is Oden. Who can try to guard him? Pops? Dorsey? Hayes?
And I'm really interested in seeing your perimeter defense operate against one the best SG of the league.

Yep apparently he feels they tricked him into signing there claiming he would be the starter. Its quite funny but the Blazers over reached on that one simply because taking the ball out of Roy's hands is the very last thing you wanna do. I think they felt they had to make a move to improve themselves when the Hinrich thing didn't pan out but that was the wrong move. Fortunately I don't think that'll effect the Blazers because their core is still intact and they still have Blake and Bayless to make the 3s. Its just gonna suck to be Andre Miller until they can find a role for him.

Looking forward to tonight's game. This is going to be a fun season for fans of this team since there are no high expectations. I am going to enjoy seeing which players step up over the next several months.

Tonight I'm expecting big numbers from Scola, Brooks and somewhat surprisingly Shane Battier (if his 3's are falling). I fear that it may take a while for Ariza to find his role on the team, but he will turn out to be a good signing long-term.

I am going to be anxiously awaiting the point in the game where Budinger and Pops enter the fray!

Like he hasn't found his role yet.

Of course, most of the preseason was used to try out players 8-13 on the roster and play with lineups. We really haven't seen a lot of Ariza on the floor with Scola, Battier and Brooks with whom he'll be starting.
