I think we can get better than Rudy for Battier but even so trading Battier is a bad idea especially if we still have hope for making the playoffs

first there are a HANDFUL of players that can play defense as well as shane (tmac can be one of them IF AND ONLY IF HE CAN GET HEALTHY!!!). ariza is no where near shane's level. before last season, shane was like Kobe Bryant on the defensive end, hopefully he can get back to that level despite his age.

2nd, w/ the league racking in perimeter players, having a top notch defender like shane will be a big help, and with ariza it makes for a great defense. (a healthy tmac can turbocharge that) then next year w/ yao ming, the defense can be top 3, depending on yao ming of corse. even if somehow yao becomes a role player, if the team get another shot blocking big, it'll be enough. the team strength has been defense for awhile.

i dont like the idea of trading shane. if he were to be traded, there'd have to be a top all star offensive player going to houston, cuz they have to make up for shanes defense.

Okafor is available for cheap.

Battier + Cook for Emeka works...

Start Budinger until McGrady comes back.

well that doesn't really matter this year.
as for next year, Yao off the bench for 20-25 mpg is probably the way to go

Okafor is garbage. Even a post op yao would not go off the bench for okafor. Hell even Tyson chandler is doing better than him in a worse team.

13/10/2 career is garbage? 60% career fg is garbage?'
We don't know how Yao will be and it's possible Scola leaves next summer too

Okafor this season:
11 games, 10.5ppg, 9.5rpg, 1.9bpg, 51%fg

Chandler this season:
9 games, 6.4ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.2bpg, 47% fg

How is Tyson doing better?

thats not exactly great numbers along with his jacked up salary, with a 3-8 record in a supposed playoff team. If hes as good as you say he is, Why would there be rumors about him being traded after a few games of the season? Maybe he can't lead his team, Even the bobcats have a better record with no chris paul or david west as superstars. Aside from that Battier>Okafor

Okafor and Chandler are both "garbage" due primarily to their salaries. If they weren't horribly overpriced, they'd both be perfectly serviceable.

(but Chandler's not having a better season)

Battier>Okafor as a perimeter shooter and perimeter defender
Battier<Okafor as a post up player, rebounder, shot blocker

Bobcats have 3 wins over ATL, NY and NJ (combined record of 9-21)
Hornets have 3 wins over DAL, LAC and SAC (combined record of 16-14)

Who knows why New Orleans has second thoughts.
Maybe they think they have a serious shot at Chris Bosh next summer.

Okafor is making $10.5 mil this season. Not cheap but not Rashard $ either. He's not Dwight Howard but he's not garbage and I think he can still improve at 27 years old.

^ you forget all the intangibles battier brings. He's a team leader and you can't really put a stat in his ability to motivate others, and the defense he brings against the likes of Kobe, Roy. Can't say the same for Okafor. He arrived at training camp late, set a bad example And Hornets want to trade him after the first few weeks of the season. Let me remind you we don't have a 7 foot center right now and we're doing better than the hornets, and they have a laughable 3 wins.

And unless Yao loses all his ability after his surgery, we won't be trading for an overpaid center anyway. All the reports are saying that he's working hard on his comeback next year. So you'd have to wait until next season to see if Yao is only good enough to be 2nd choice center for our team, or if hes able to play again. As of now, he is still first choice, considering he's scheduled to make a return.

Okafor is a lot better than Chandler, the reason NO sucks is because all their wings are complete garbage. Posey, Peja, and MoPete are awful players at this point.
