We all love Battier's intangibles...

but isn't it time for him to do something tangible for once? He's having an awful year so far. Without a dominant post player to play off of, he just sits in the corner on offense doing practically nothing.

(while Ariza keeps chucking up ill advised 3s) His 3 point percentage and rebounding(inexcusable) is at a career low. How do you go from averaging 5 rebounds a game to 2.7? What gives?

Honestly I think it's time to trade him before he loses all of his trade value , he is not so young either.
I would love to trade him + a pick for a guy like Marvin Williams if it was possible.
Maybe some contender will bite.

I've been saving all summer long that we should trade him for expiring and a late first. Not because i hate him, no... Shane is absolutely one of my favorite Rockets. He's just not a good fit on this team. His only 3 skills: corner 3, defense, post entry pass are being wasted on this team.

This is the truth. Only us Rockets fans know the real value of Battier, a month or so ago I was on the player comparison board, there was a thread on Rudy Gay v Shane Battier...about 90% of them would take Battier over Gay....it's funny because although us fans think Shane Battier's value sucks and we can't get squat for him, many state otherwise. I'd personally love to try and get Rudy Fernandez here for him.

well first you gotta understand no shot blocking (someone thought it wasnt needed) will make it extremely difficult to guard high scoring perimter players. the only way to effectively guard them is w/ a good perimeter defender AND a defensive presence inside. you saw kobe struggled the most vs houston last playoffs, even w/o yao. shane is having a slow start, but the team shouldnt trade him for that. i doubt he keeps this up, and up until last game, he's had at least 1 3pter. i would assumed his ppg would go up to at least 10, but w/ the team getting over 100ppg, its not necessary. of corse he'll play better w/ a star player. he may be old but he still has few good years in him . w/ 2010 i say keep him, he could be a lot mroe valuble than you think.

I've been one to always want to keep him, but right now... He doesnt fit.
If we could get someone like Marvin Williams, I would probably jizz myself
Btw, I dont really want Pryzbilla.. I know its not gonna happen, but I want Beindris (Maybe a 3way)

Biedrins would be sick, Using the rockets in 2k would be too easy if we landed him

The Knicks could use someone like Battier, but I'm sure there' s no way Morey would do this

would you guys do
Amir Johnson
Antonie Wright
Raptors 2010 Second
for
Battier?
This moves gives you room for 2 max FAs in 2010. Also Amir is only 23 while Wright is 25 and both are developing but Amir has started to break out since the start of the season, hes a great rebounder and trust me even Doug Smith (our writer) said he needs to start of Bargnani. Hes playing that good and i think this trades makes sense for both.

1. We already have 15 players on our roster, after this trade we'll have 16 which we would need to cut. (not really saving money)
2. Value does not match

i believe you only have 14 players says NBA.com and ESPN. Now i know its not the greatest offer but Amir is playing great and hes only 23 as i indicated he averages 5 and 5 in 17 minutes, Battier averages 9 and 2 in 32 minutes but brings a lot to the court. Toronto desperately needs him and Wright did start for Dallas but the key in this is getting the room for 2 max FA. This gives you a starting 5 of
Brooks
Johnson (max)
Ariza
Scola (resigned)
Yao (max)
That cann happen because you save 7.5 million by trading Battier for expiring contracts it brings your total salaries committed to 10.8 (Brooks,Lowry,Anderson). Depending on the cap number ill use 52 million as the cap. Gives you 41.2 million in cap space meaning the max would be about 15.6 million this leaves you at 31.1 million (Yao+Johnson for the max) then you would have 10.1 million to resign Scola which would be more than enough. Also i think Yao could take a pay cut of some sort maybe back load the contract for you to be able to resign Amir, your depth chart would be,
Brooks/2010 Pick
Johnson/Taylor
Ariza/Budinger/Hayes
Scola/Amir
Yao/Anderson
im just saying it gives you option, also we could add a 1st round pick the only problem is we traded our 2010 to miami and its protected till 2014. So the earliest would be a 2012 with protection so miami gets theres and you get yours 2 years after.

Did you and the language filter go in together on a summer house in the Ozarks? You two seem awfully buddy-buddy.

Our record is still on positive note and Battier won't be any worse than now. Our chemistry has been clicking (on most nights and off a few nights). Last year with Yao here he could just sit at the corner and wait for three. This year Yao is out and Battier has to do a lot more that explain why his shots were not falling. As long as he get used to his role, he will do better.
There are many of us advocate to dump this season for a high draft pick or saying so much negative about this team even before the season starts. So far we are still above .500 and our schedule last month wasn't easy at all (consecutive back-to-back game vs. team above .500). I am satisfied on what this team performs so far this season and even those game we lost the team gave out 120% effort (except the Dallas game). I don't know why we should break our core when we are performing better than we predict.

Might be able to get Perkins for him. We get a defensive big man to compliment ScoLandry. And they get the missing piece to their puzzle which is a lock down perimeter defender.
