McGrady to Cavs Idea
In this scenario, the Cavaliers would receive the right to exchange 2010 1st round picks with Houston
Houston would receive:
Anthony Parker
Wally Szcerbiak (Sign & Trade so he would be expiring)
Cavaliers 2012 2nd round pick (top-40 protected)
Cavaliers would receive:
Tracy McGrady
Right to exchange 2010 1st round draft picks.

Re: McGrady to Cavs Idea
Two things:
1) Do the Cavs even have Wally's rights anymore? I didn't think that he was on their roster in any aspect.
2) Do you actually think that this is a good idea for the Rockets? Houston takes on a little extra 2010 salary, agrees to pay Wally enough to cover the cost needed for the trade (salary not heavily protected by insurance like McGrady's), and they give the Cavs the lower of the two first round picks?

#1: Yes, the Cavaliers still hold the rights to Wally (See Keith Van Horn trade between Dallas & Nets)
#2: Yes, they take on AP's 2010 salary (pro-rated), but AP is an excellent shooter, and an excellent defender. Well worth the pro-rated salary of 2010. His 2011 salary is not guaranteed.
#3: Houston trades picks, but also receives a 2nd rounder from the Cavs, and the Rocket's pick will likely be in the high teens anyway.
#4: The Cavs would likely send Cash also, to buy-out Wally's contract.

Re: McGrady to Cavs Idea
So you're saying that for Houston this would be immediate financial relief at the expense of a lower first round pick and the addition of a second?
Hey - you never know what Morey will do, so this isn't outside of the realm of possibility (especially if the Cavs provide the cash to buy Wally out); but the pick swap would not be a part of this.
Also, I know that the reports are out that the Rockets really want to move McGrady, but they aren't in dire financial straits. The only way I could see this going down would be if they had no other options, saw something in Parker (I'll admit I'm not too familiar with him to judge - knowing that the contract isn't guaranteed in 2011 helps), and the pick swap is removed.
Interesting proposal. Nice to see something different.

Well, if we remove the 1st round pick swap, then the Rockets would have to give us a 2nd rounder. Otherwise, the Cavs take all the risk.

Horrible, let's remove ourselves from the big FA class of 2010 for a some overpaid has-beens.

The Cavs trade is as bad as any deal the Knicks could offer and the Philly one will set us back for years to come. Just let T-Mac expire...

Re: McGrady to Cavs Idea
McGrady & Cook to Chicago for Salmons, Miller, Jerome James & a 1st Rounder.
Rockets still save money with Jerome James contract. Get a 1 year rental for Brad Miller who played for RA before. We also take on Salmons contract who has been under-preforming this year but I think he could play well in our system. He has a player option for next season and I doubt he opts for FA. The 1st Rounder is a sweetner from Chicago because after this deal they'd be guaranteed to offer MAX money to a FA.

3 years ago teams would send a 1st round pick + talent for McGrady
However, he has lowered his value quite drastically!
If the Rockets get a young rotation player with some up-side + salary relief, that is about the best you can really hope for.

Trade idea is not terrible. But if you want the Rockets to include first round swap, that is a no deal.

Nah... Chicago would be sending the pick to us for the cap relief.

Don't like the idea, there's no way we add a first when we're getting back a 34 year old guard that will only take minutes away from Budinger. Even if McGrady has no value, we give up a first for essentially nothing. Creative though.

3 years ago Tmac is not a massive expiring contract that team want it to be a big player in the 2010 market. Plus if Tmac can even be 70-80% of his own self, he would be even more valuable. There is minimum risk in taking Tmac if the main idea is his expiring contract.

True, but the Cavs aren't interested in his expiring...in-fact, they'd probably re-sign him if he meshed well with the team.
But, instead of past offer, try this one:
Wally (S&T so he is expiring)
AP (pro-rated 2 million, non-guaranteed 2011)
cash - to buy-out Wally
Daniel Gibson
Rights to Eyenga
2011 2nd round pick - unprotected (we owe our 2010 2nd round pick to Phoenix, so we can give you that)
for
McGrady
