The Grizzlies are interested in signing former Rockets guard Von Wafer in order to improve their perimeter shooting.

Before Wafer returns to the NBA he needs to complete a divorce with his current team, Greece's Olympiakos.

The club has Wafer under contract for $2 million but hasn't played him over the past few games.

According to an internet report, Olympiakos announced it had released Wafer late Friday.

...

Let's hope he doesn't come back to beat us in a game or sign with a rival

he's a shooter/slasher . can hit 3s, mid range, he's ok when attacking the basket but not his best way of scoring. defense is ok, not terrible. id rather have cbud then him, good thing we let him go .

memphis should stop signing players. find a way to let OJ MAYO more involved in the offense, and conley . fantasy owners of both those players like myself will not be pleased to see wafer takin 3s away from oj mayo, who's 3s are down this year .

I never liked him due to his low BBall IQ, attitude and selfishness. I think Taylor will be way better than Von for us.

i liked him initially but when he thought highly of himself and disrespected adelman's coaching, i knew he was on his way. potential cancer.

The things to worry about with the Von-Hawk apparantly take place off-court. Many of us were surprised at that blowup he had against Adelman in-game last year. After that the whispers started that he was a selfish, disruptive force in the locker room, and it was that - not his play - which ended his time here.

Houston can be pretty good about covering things up with their player. I, for one, had just assumed that Ron Artest did not walk around and ride team busses in just his underwear. There's a lot we just don't know behind the scenes!

Von Wafer history for Olympiacos, officially

We had reported some days ago that Olympiacos and Von Wafer's agents had already begun negotiations to terminate their co-operation and tonight it was made officially known that Von Wafer is history for Olympiacos.

Olympiacos officially announced the release of the player, who could sign with the Memphis Grizzlies any day now. The reason for his departure is the failure to adapt to Olympiacos' style of game and poor performance.

Giannakis: Von Wafer was simply not up for it

After Olympiacos-Trikala game, the day after his club released Von Wafer, Giannakis was asked for the reasons the player left Greece and headed back to NBA.

According to Giannakis, the American guard was simply not up for it anymore: "Von Wafer had a totally different philosophy than ours and could not adapt to ours. If someone is not up for it even to try, then he better stop doing it altogether. It makes the rest of the guys (players) nervous." Giannakis said and wished Von Wafer good luck: "In any case we wish him all the best."

All the stuff Olympk. was saying about Wafer could apply to TMac last season.

Other than his playoff tantrum Wafer played well for us last year and I wouldn't mind him back if he came cheap. Jermaine Taylor hasn't really shown anything.
