Trade Ariza?
He is eligible to be traded tomorrow. How about:
1. Ariza, Cook and Andersen to Clippers for Camby and R. Butler (both expiring after this season)
2. only Rockets signed for next season would be Yao, Shane, Landry, Brooks, Taylor and Budinger (with team options on Hayes and Dorsey) for a total of about $30 million. Would the remainder be enough to make a run at Wade or Bosh or Joe Johnson?
Rockets
F: Battier, Butler
F: Scola, Landry
C: Camby, Hayes, Dorsey, Yao
G: Brooks, Lowry
G: McGrady, Budinger, Taylor
Clippers
F: Ariza, Novak
F: Thornton, Griffin, Smith, Cook
C: Kaman, Andersen, Jordan
G: Davis, Telfair
G: Gordon, Davis
Clippers get a local guy with a championship ring who is better suited to being a 3rd option type.

Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

agreed.
If the trade goes down, I think our admin/office will have a bad reputation for some reason.
I cannot imagine Ariza in a Clippers' uniform after seeing him in a Lakers' one last season.

Re: Trade Ariza?
Hell no! He isnt supposed to be a top offensive weapon. He doesnt have the skill and doesnt get paid like one. When he will be just another role player like he was in LA he will be amazing. He will make 45% of his threes and will be god for 12 points a game with good % and great D...

He's playing much better than i expected. Although he's not shooting the basketball particuarly well, i'm impressed by his progress he made this year as a player.

If it means a legit chance at signing a superstar you do it.

Well then u trade Battier for expiring. You dont trade a 23 year old with potential for pure expiring.

Re: Trade Ariza?
Why are you already giving up on Ariza? We have many other trade able assets that could grab us a few more expiring contracts. Even if we do get 30 mil in cap space, Only Lebron and Wade would be worth even close to that much and both clearly have their sights set on playing else where.

Ariza for Artest?
Greatest comment I've ever received.

Re: Trade Ariza?
It's a bit early to be giving up on Ariza, isn't it? It's not even as though he's playing terribly.
Yeah, we all see room for improvement, but you don't get rid of a guy his age with his potential. Especially on a good contract!

Re: Trade Ariza?
I'm personally not impressed with Ariza's play so far, and am on the bandwagon of him never developing into the star we're trying to make him out to be, but there's no way we trade him this season, or the next IMO. It's too early considering we still haven't peaked into what he's fully capable of doing.

Morey made some good trades and picks, but he sucked big time signing free agents from other team.

Don't know the exact numbers, but certain amount is on hold for your restricted free agent and draft picks.

I wish people on here would get over the rockets having a legit chance at signing a superstar. there is no chance lebron, dwade will take 5mil less per season to sign with a new team.
only chance we have of getting one of them is through a s&t and we might need ariza to make that trade.
no way do we trade him now.

Re: Trade Ariza?
Ariza is meant to be a top-level role player on a budgetable contract, NOT a blossoming star as someone in here mentioned. If anyone had a notion of him as a potential star, he wouldn't be on the MLE.
He is an asset, but he won't be traded anytime soon. Think how that would make Morey look to other players he tries to recruit.
"You signed Ariza, then just shipped him off right after he couldn't what you asked him to do, which is more than he's capable of. If you're that unrealistic with him and that quick to pull the trigger, how am I supposed to know where I'll be at any given point?"
I wouldn't be surprised if TMac's contract was used to slightly increase the salaries of our expiring role players across the board.

Suns fan here. Would you guys do Amare and Jrich for Tmac, Ariza, Scola?
You guys improve, Suns stay competitive and clear cap space for the summer.

The point is that SF/SG position seems already covered with top-level role players and a former superstar, isn't it? ....
Ariza is somehow overvalued right now, in a similar way than Brooks (high scoring disguises their low Basketball IQ in offense). You could get a team-oriented star or superstar, if you involve such players plus some salary fillers in a trade and are good enough negotiating I guess.
