McGrady trade options?

Post#1 » by BillessuR6 » Sun Dec 27, 2009 2:21 pm

Being a neutral viewer of the McGrady situation let me try to find some McGrady trade ideas:

I will try to follow these points:
- expiring contracts
- 3 for 1, 4 for 2 max trades(with 15 players, Harris and Dorsey the only 2 to be potentially cut to make room in a trade for incoming players)
- less money incoming in a trade(salary tax savings)

Lets go:

Tracy McGrady $23,239,561

1)NY
Hughes, Milicic $21,195,268

2)NY
Jeffries, Mobley, Robinson, Landry $20,424,188
for
McGrady, Harris

With NY having a lot of expiring contracts there are a lot of options so I will stop here

3)WAS
James, M. Miller, Oberto, Foye $21,813,298
for
McGrady, Harris

3)CHI
James, B. Miller, Salmons $25,279,150
for
McGrady, Cook $26,343,124

...

Any other ideas?

No to all, Rockets organization would say no to all too. I'd want someone that can contribute in a positive way.

How about some sort of deal with the Bucks for Michael Redd?

Would you do a McGrady and Dorsey for Brad Miller and Kirk Hinrich? Kirk isn't an expiring but he's got a a descending contract and should be able to be productive for you. I think the Bulls would definitely do option number 4 also.

No to Redd. Hinrich is intriguing, but I don't think the Rockets want to go in that direction, I think they're looking to improve with their prospects right now, rather than have a quality guy like Hinrich, although in reality with Yao on the team Kirk would be the perfect fit.

I only have one rule regarding Mcgrady trade proposals. As long as we don't have to take on long term(bad) contracts, i'll take it. So no Jeffries, no Curry, no Diaw, no to anybody with a multiyear contract. If its expiring, its good.

You know what's interesting. I want to see how Kevin Martin fairs in Sacramento. Cause if he doesn't mesh well with Tyreke, and they ponder trading him, we have a great, big expiring we can send plus a little bit of young talent.

Anyway we can get Paul. I think the Hornets are not in a good place salary wise and the Rockets could take on Peja and Posey as well and give up Brooks, Scola, and Cook. It's probably a dream though because NO won't give up Paul.

I don't think that it is even a question if Les would pay out the wazoo in luxury tax for Paul; but the only way that happens is if they are trying to move the team from New Orleans!

I said months ago we should ask the Hornets if they want to start over and we'll take Okafor and Paul off their hands and we'll give McGrady which is essentially a clean slate for the Hornets. The Hornets probably don't wanna piss off their fan base right now but if we call in February they will do it.

Paul would give the Rockets their first true superstar since Hakeem was still the Dream. It probably won't happen, but one can only hope.

LOL @ getting Chris Paul. Sure you will. I think something like

TMac and Brian Cook to the Knicks for Harrington, Jeffries and Mobley makes the most sense.

It actually saves Houston money, even though they have to pay Jeffries another year, and gets them back a good player in Harrington. The Rockets won't have any cap room this off season any way, so Jeffries doesn't hurt them.

The Rockets aren't poor like several NBA teams. In fact they have very deep pockets. The team isn't going to sacrifice talent to save money.

When did he bitch to the media this year? They've asked him questions, he's answered politely. McGrady is a talented player, he can help this team in very valuable ways, and on top of that his contract is expiring.

The Rockets paid a lot to get him, they actually have used him in the past as a MAJOR contributor, Morey knows it, and us fans should know that if McGrady's getting traded, I damn better well get back quality talent in return. Like tha rock said, we aren't poor low class trash, we aren't here to save money, we're looking to add more pieces that can help us lead from here on out. We don't want garbage, and if you'd take anybody over him, than I really don't know what to tell you. I want someone with quality, and I'm sure the organization knows this.

Especially since Yao is no longer a franchise player and super injury prone, I'd rather have someone with quality over anything, the Caron Butler deal seems good too.

I'm not a fan of either team so i'm not biased either way but it seems to me like an ideal trade partner would be the Wizards.

T-Mac + Brian Cook + Battier
for
Gil Arenas + Caron Butler + Haywood

If you remove Butler and Battier, the Wizards should do that. I don't know if they would, but they should.
