The Rockets and McGrady came to a "mutual agreement" Monday to seek to trade McGrady , a person with the Rockets with knowledge of talks between McGrady’s representatives and general manager Daryl Morey said.

With Rockets coach Rick Adelman still unable to predict when McGrady will get significant playing time, McGrady’s representatives asked that the Rockets trade McGrady.

Finally, I'm really happy for this news, not because I want him gone, but because they were doing him wrong. At least this way he will be happy, and so will the Rockets, though I'm PRAYING right now it's not a deal with New York, we don't want any of that garbage. I'm sure we'll land a quality player in return, Morey knows the value of McGrady in the past, and he knows what direction the Rockets are headed with this current team, any move that will allow us to grab a high quality player that can score at an effective rate is a good move.

It's sad that it has to end this way, after being a fan for 9 years, I was ecstatic when he arrived to Houston in '04, there were some very fun memories (2005 season especially, 2005 playoffs started out fun, 13 in 35, the dunk on Bradley, the 22 game winning streak, the start of the 2007 playoffs), but I guess it's all over now. I hope the team we trade him to is a team that will allow him to play and showcase his talent to the fullest, and in the future I hope he finds a team and actually fulfills his dreams of winning a championship, good riddance I guess.

This pretty much sums it up for me too. I love McGrady and its unfortunate how his time in Houston is ending in a poor manner. I honestly thought one day we'd see his jersey hanging in the rafters. Lots of great memories of him as a Rocket. I'm a huge fan of this guy and will remain a T-Mac fan. Nothings changed. I wish him the best wherever he goes in the near future. I just hope he doesn't to the Lakers, Dallas, or Jazz! (I mean as a FA next year)

From day one, they've been trying to deal Tmac. Tmac was NEVER a part of the Rockets this season. They're just making it public now. Nothing new, everybody move on.

You know a trade is 2 ways right? Who is going to give us "quality" player in return for Mcgrady's corpse/expiring contract? Like i said, Tmac was never a part of the Rockets plan this year. Nothing has changed except that Morey's hand is being tied by this going public. Now Morey "has" to trade him quickly. We'll be lucky to get back expiring contract at this point. If i see Jeffries in a Rockets uniform, i'm gonna get pissed.

just let him stay home and dont trade him.

if he wants to throw the rockets trainers under the bus last season. pick the lakers to win the championship, before the rockets/lakers series started. come back a month ahead of his own schedule, out of shape and demand minutes.

complete selfishness.

let him sit home and get a **** contract next year.

lmao??

How did he throw the trainers under the bus? Who cares about him picking the Lakers? He came back AFTER his deadline, and was NOT out of shape, and didn't DEMAND minutes.. He just says he thinks he should play more..

T-Mac haters are horrible

It was reported they weren't actively aggressively seeking a trade earlier in the season, but now that both sides have a mutual agreement, they're going to start ongoing discussions.

And yes genius, obviously a trade is two-ways, I think a lot of you have obtuse minds, especially with the way with how some of you understand statements.

However, my statement is that the Rockets IMO shouldn't be and don't think are looking to take back an expiring contract in exchange. If you can land a guy like Kevin Martin, you pull the trigger, especially with how bad they are financially, I'd definitely be looking to take back a few bad contracts in return for an asset like him. Caron Butler is another, etc. etc. I stated this earlier, we aren't low class trash, we have deep pockets and we aren't afraid to spend to get the right talent in return.

You pull the trigger on trades where you can take back good assets rather than trade McGrady just for the sake trading him so he could play on another team, while we take back expiring contracts, no. That's really idiotic to think, considering how valuable his expiring contract really is, and with the way they've displayed him on the floor, he looks quick and in good shape. If there's something happening with New York, then IMO it will be Morey's worst move coming into office.

Yao's done too folks, hopefully they don't franchise tag his ass next season. Nothing new, everybody move on. :P

You don't understand, if the Rockets sit him for the rest of the season just to "get back at him," not only does that tarnish the Rockets organization but it keeps an ongoing distraction throughout the entire season because you KNOW he won't keep quiet.

What do you suggest we do if we can't trade Tmac for a "quality" player? Quality players don't grow on trees you know? Now that this is publicized, Tmac's career as a Rocket is essentially over. If you can't trade him for another star, what do you do? Before we had the luxury to wait on good deals but now... both parties want this to be over with asap. I'll be very pleased with expiring contract at this point.

If we're sending out Tmac's 22 million expiring contract, we're gonna get back about 18 million worth of expirings. How is Tmac's expiring contract really valuable? You don't think other team's expiring are valuable too? Or do you live in some kind of bizarre world?

Exactly. Tmac HAS to be traded now. And quickly. Other teams know this too.

The Sac-Town rumors seem pretty good, with us taking in two bad contracts in exchange for Kevin Martin, it seems the Wizards might want to get rid of Butler due to their horrible financial situation, there deals on the table, it's up for Morey to negotiate. T-Mac's expiring is the most valuable for the same reason people were on Stephon Marbury's nuts last season, he himself is all expiring. Either way, any deal with the Knicks is going to be a bad one for the Rockets, hopefully that's not the case.

We will get a young player and a bad contract. It is just that simple. As for us Tmac Haters ( yes I am one) Last time I checked if you get paid Millions of Dollars to play basketball you at least have to play in Decemeber with the rest of your squad, and you dont make excuses about your shoulder, and your knee before the season even starts? Tmac has all the talent in the world but you know what seperates him from The Kobes, DWades and LeBrons? Heart and the ability to be a leader these 2 items he has never had, Not in Toronto, Orlando and Houston. If we cant deal him I am all for him having to wait untill next year and I bet he prays he gets an offer like AI got.

Yes. And which quality player did they get in exchange for starbury?

Obviously none, that was a completely different situation, the management was out to screw Marbury from the beginning, it isn't even THAT personal here, considering McGrady got to play. Take bad a few bad contracts, but if you can get 1 very good asset out of it, I'd be happy.

Someone is going to get very upset when we trade Tmac and Dorsey for Darko and Larry Hughes.
