The official what we want for TMac thread.

We want these things:

We will not accept these:

Inquiring minds want to know.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

We want these things: Expiring contracts or possibly a quality player in return. However if there is a young asset involved in taking a bad contract or two *cough* Kevin Martin *cough* Iggy *cough* it'd definitely be worthwhile.

I also like Chicago's offer of Jerome James/Brad Miller/John Salmons

We will not accept these:
We don't want bad contracts, garbage from New York.

lol Miller would fit nicely this season as a vet, and especially well since Adelman in the past has used him in his offensive scheme, plus he's a huge expiring, same with Jerome. IMHO this is the most realistic trade that could happen within the next two weeks, I don't really see any others working out any better than this, unless the Sac town one actually plays out.

Yeah, the Bulls package (Salmons, Miller, and James) is probably the most realistic offer.

I wonder if we could grab Tyrus Thomas in that deal :D I'd definitely have him over Salmons..

We want these things: Superstars, "the elusive missing piece", young players Morey thinks are good

We will not accept these: Bad, long-term contracts; expirings (TMAC HAS THE LARGEST EXPIRING CONTRACT IN THE LEAGUE, WE BENEFIT MORE HOLDING ON TO HIM THAN TRADING HIM FOR GARBAGE)

I can't be the only person to realize that...

In other news:

"Word was that the calls were to make offers the Rockets would never consider," the Houston Chronicle reports, "despite the chance to put together an impressive collection of really bad contracts."

It's not just us, guys! Morey deals with this **** too!

I like the CHI trade for both teams.

But, I just think there is a deal out their that moves T-Mac for expirings, one young-cheap asset, and gets HOU below the LUX. Maybe a third team would need to be involved to facilitate?

On another note, does Houston have any desire to move Battier? If so, what would you want in return?

He'd have to have minutes to contribute.

Morey said this summer he would look for one of two things in a McGrady deal:

1) Expiring contracts that added up to the guard's salary, the highest in the NBA.
Or
2) A youngster with star potential who would fit long-term plans.

Morey said he did not want either of these headaches in a deal:

1) A stopgap player whose salary would eat up cap space beyond next summer.
And
2) Garbage.

All of the players I suspect are available to the Rockets fall into one of those two no-no categories.

Why do you want expiring contracts? T-Mac is already the ultimate expiring contract. If all you want is expiring deals then don't trade him.

Yeah, I don't like any of the Chi deals. Salmons and Thomas don't do it for me, and outside of Rose and possibly Noah there is nothing on their roster worth trading for.

said this many many times
if we can trade T-Mac for anyone useful or picks or anything
best thing to do is buyout his contract

we could trade for other expiring who could possibly contribute OR we could move them for other pieces, because its easier to move a smaller contract

I agree. Houston has no need for scrubs like Brad Miller, Jerome James, Stromile Swift 2 or John Salmons.

What Morey is looking for is a package of expirings and/or young & talented players / guys that will/would be in the rotation for the next 3 years at least. I think he'd also trade McGrady for expirings and a 1st round pick. He also might try to get rid of Cook.

Also please stop with this Houston needs a center crap. It's not true. Hayes, Andersen, Scola and Landry are just fine for now. There are already not enough minutes for Dorsey. Once Yao comes back Houston already has a logjam at center with all those guys, which will probably force/enable them to trade a least one of them. Also all of them (even Scola) are still improving, so it's important they continue to get minutes.

The Rockets have no need to trade McGrady, just to get rid of him. He's the biggest expiring already after all.
