According to Shamsports, Andersen's 3rd year is not guaranteed. I hope he gets to keep his old job in Europe. He seemed like a nice guy.

Re: Somebody tell Andersen not to renew his green card
u have to be patient w/ him. he's bound to have bad games like todays. for the MOST PART he's been ok in the limited minutes he gets. might be like this for the year, and if we get the playoffs he prolly wont play at all, or only in garbage time

Andersen is not that bad.. there were some games where he really helped us.. his defense is just not there.. I'm more worried about Trevor Ariza.. he looks Awful.

Re: Somebody tell Andersen not to renew his green card
he's just a rookie although an old one by the standards of the NBA but not by the rockets. lol.
anderson is soft - i'm the 1st one to admit it but he is a 2nd to 3rd string kind of backup pf/c i think... can't expect too much from him.

Re: Somebody tell Andersen not to renew his green card
Andersen is below average in seemingly every way. He is soft, doesn't rebound, can't defend and while he can "supposedly" shoot, nobody respect his 3 point shot. He doesn't do a darn thing to help this team. I don't see how he's any better than Brian Cook at the moment.
Ariza atleast helps the team in defense and transition opportunity.

Re: Somebody tell Andersen not to renew his green card
Andersen never played center in Europe. He only played PF. The Rockets are playing him out of position. He was considered a soft defender and rebounder in the Euroleague as a power forward. It's not his fault, it's Adelman's fault for insisting on playing him as a center, which he was never capable of at any point in his career in Europe.

its not adelmans fault, its yao ming fault
no but really, next year if the team has real sized centers, yao ming and someone else, then andersen should see less time at the 5 and more at 4, that or his minutes get reduced but still plays both spots. but for now, he needs to play center, cuz scolandry need to focus on offense, and since andersen is the biggest, i'd guess rick uses his height for defense, only for this eyar. and he isnt terrible at defense, he does switch, move around, help, post defense isnt bad, but still he aint that good on defense. scale of 1-10 id say 5.5.
i wanna keep the guy and see wat he can do next year w/ yao. if he's a bust then o well, at least he can be a 3rd string big which right now he's perfect for. but if can play next year, he'll be a huge boost for our post players, give them good spacing which would make landry and yao virtually unstopable.

Andersen in Europe was always a good team defender but he's a terrible man defender. In the Euroleague he was a space the floor PF that also had a nice post up game against smaller defenders. I can't recall him ever being used as the Rockets use him on defense. The fact that he was always considered a poor rebounder, man defender, and soft for a PF in the Euroleague should be enough info for the Rockets to know that he is not a center.
I would guess that Morey didn't do any scouting or get any info on him and simply assumed he was a center and signed him not realizing he was a soft PF. Because everyone in Europe knew he could not handle playing as a center on defense. Where Andersen would be really valuable to the Rockets would be playing next to Yao.

But Andersen can't hit the NBA 3 point shot. He doesn't have the range. A floor spacing PF that can't shoot 3 is pretty useless.
Sure, he may be able to extent his range next year but his defense is unlikley to improve.

Re: Somebody tell Andersen not to renew his green card
what i mean about andersen being used on defense, i mean this..since this team needs to work their butts off for every single win, they need to be more careful on how to use their mintues/energy/game, i dunno the term for it exactly. but since scolandry is our inside offense, its best for them not to do too much on the defensive end, specailly being undersized.
w/ andersen, since he's new and has size, he should be working more on defense, even tho its not his thing. he fouls out oh well, he's expendable, just need a body on defense and he is that guy. we have hayes but need more. not saying andersen will shut down anyone, just sayin since he has size, the team should have use him more on defense and scolandry on offense. hopefully this is the only season we have to do this.

*picks up jaw from the floor*
Are you saying we need to use Andersen as a defensive stopper?
