oh, didn't see that part...anyway:

UPDATE

Sources told ESPN.com that the Rockets have indeed expressed an interest in Wizards forward Caron Butler and center Brendan Haywood. But for a Wizards-Rockets deal to go through, Washington would almost certainly try to hold out for at least one of Houston's rotation players, such as Luis Scola, in addition to McGrady.

The Rockets, though, are determined to keep the core of a roster that has unexpectedly managed this season without McGrady and the injured Yao Ming. Houston is thus believed to be offering Washington only the payroll relief that would come with McGrady's contract.

The Rockets, sources say, have made it clear that they are willing to surrender McGrady's $22.5 million contract before the deadline if they can get quality talent in return, but they also have the option of simply keeping McGrady for the rest of the season and letting his contract expire to gain payroll flexibility for an offseason retooling

Ariza's a rotational player. I don't know if the Wizards would take him though

Butler & Haywood would be a nice return for McGrady, I guess. The Wiz are pretty high if they think that Scola's going back to them, tho. This deal is all about financial relief, and nothing more.

I disagree. Of course the Wizards want someone of worth in return. Haywood is already expiring, and Butler can be traded for expirings easily. Talent from the Rockets has to be coming back.

Not interested in Haywood. They are asking way too much for him. Wizards wanted Batum and Fernandez for Brenda. That's ridiculous. If they value him that much then they can keep him.

I say go for Butler and Miller.

If that's the case then the Rockets most likely walk away and don't look back.

I like this deal a lot, and I'm hoping this happens, because it can make us better by a significant margin. When I mean better, I'm saying we could probably be more respected as a team and possibly have a chance to get to the conference finals (or beyond). Haywood is a great defensive center, he gives anyone not named Yao a lot of problems (especially Dwight), and Butler is just a fantastic 5-tool player.

i dont mind haywood at all, he's a good enough starter and whenever yao's out he can do some damage in the paint, and he'll obvioulsy be a lot better as a backup, and his contract is done this year . its butler who i'm worried about, 4 strait seasons he's not healthy . and this year he's very inconsistent w/ his shot. he'll be 30 in march and it looks like he's already in the decline, and after all those injuries it could take a bigger toll on him w/ his age. w/ or w/o yao he wont put up the same numbers he did w/ wizards.

id rather have martin then him, but id rather have neither since they're injury prone. we should go after iggy

this team shouldnt trade for injury proners, do they not know that their 2 best players have been injured the last 5 years? already have yao, why the **** would you want butler?

Butler and Haywood make just under $16mil combined. That's over $2mil short of coming w/in the 25% salary parameters. Foye,Blatche or Stevenson would have to be added. Then because of only allowed 15 players under contract at a time, the Rockets would have to trade, waive 2 other players.

Here's the thing, why would Wash even consider such a trade?
Let's say it's Butler,Haywood,Stevenson for McGrady,Dorsey(and the Rockets previously buy out Cook).
Wash takes on an addittional $4.5mil in salary, effectively $9mil w/tax to save 1 yr of Butler.(Next yr,even w/Butler,the Wiz only have some $45mil in salaries.)
The Rockets would have to throw in at least their 2010 First and cash and hope Wash plans on being a player in FA next yr.

For the Rockets it's almost a no brainer. Haaywood comes w/Bird rights so team can sign him as Yao's back-up. Butler is only committed thru next season,so he gives help this yr and next yr if Yao comes back.

Take Butler, Stevenson, and Haywood.

Give us McGrady and either Landry or Scola and call it a night. You guys are getting 2 starters in exchange for two people who won't be in a Wizards uniform next season.

I might be alone on this one but I wouldn't Scola nor Landry for either one of those guys. Plus we have to "throw-in" T-Mac?

I came up with the exact same trade but I doubt the Wizards would take it. It's great for us but we would probably have to throw in a 1st. I'm actually not even sure they would take it then. 3 starters and an extremely talented young prospect for a questionable player, a POOR shooter, and two scrubs? Add to that the Wizards would have to pay 3.7 million more in salary this season (they would actually end up paying 7.2 million extra because they are over the luxury tax) and only add 5 million to their available cap space for the offseason (which almost defeats the purpose of trading for Mcgrady in the first place). I don't think the Wizards are that stupid...unfortunately.
