Shaq to Houston?

Okay the numbers work but I don't know if Houston would be willing to pull the trigger on this...

Shaq to Houston

McGrady to Washington

Jamison, Foye and Haywood to Cleveland

give or take a few minor contracts for incentive Budinger? Powe? etc.

Shaq, McGrady and Haywood are all expiring deals. Houston gets a 4 month replacement for Yao and still get's to clear the cap space at the end of the season. Cleveland gets a younger center than Shaq or Ilgauskas and Jamison's contract, and eats Foye's contract in return. Washington gets to start over at the end of the year with Mike Miller and Caron Butler as the only two contracts they have to worry about, along w/ McGrady's bird rights and a a 4 month try out.

I would rather have a life-size cutout of Shaq on this team than Shaq himself. Houston gets nothing.

Nice first post...

1st post......

Cleveland can get Jamison without giving up shaq (who they need to compete with the bigs of LA, Orlando, boston). Why then would they?

I think it's funny how so many people here seem dead set on Iguodala, but every post I've made about him has been completely ignored.

Is it just cause the guy is a Name Player, or cause he can dunk, or does anyone actually have good reasons? I think I covered him pretty well in another thread. No responses.

imo...before this year, iggy has been a 45% shooter which is good, wat kobe does. he's been on a low playoff/lottery team in philly, and as years go by the league gets tougher, and now every single team has at least one all star caliber player, it getting to the point where its TWO all stars, and more quality players to surround those star players. so iggy being on a bad team will make his shooting worse, it took me by surprise he'd struggle this year , being on more than 2 of my fantasy teams, but w/e . put iggy w/ good role players like houston, he'll once again prove he's one level under kobe. most of his shots shouldnt be jumpers btw, i dont think he has an outstanding midrange game but its good enough for a deep playoff team. if yao is healthy next year and this team has iggy, those 2 can do some damage...as long as iggy doesn't have the same problem tmac had which was Yao cloggin the paint. but tmac always played injured, iggy never gets injured so ya.

plus this team has enough shooters, who also will shoot better if yao gets back or they have an all star to detract the defenders. we need easy buckets, iggy can do that w/ a good team. easy buckets from an inside player and a wing is great to have :) .

I wouldn't mind AI2 but I seriously doubt we'd be able to get him without giving up a key player, which I'm not willing to do for him. Key players IMO are AB, battier, Landry.....maybe even scola. Would he be a great fit for this team? Hell yeah....but many other players would be too.

Also, it's not how injury prone the players are, I think it's something in the water of Houston. Tmac was plenty healthy I thought in Orlando. Similar to why people go to phoenix and revive their careers, only we're the flip side of that. =/

Haywood has an expiring deal.
Jamison's deal is terrible and he costs way too much for a "rebuilding" team
Foye gets paid too much for what he is, and Cleveland could buy him out, or waive him or whatever...

No matter what with Arenas out Washington needs to start liquifying assets and get ready to start over. McGrady's big ole contract helps with that process and getting rid of Jamison and Foyes contract doesn't hurt them. Then they go out and buy a young player to compliment Butler and whatever lottery pick they end with.

You know the bad thing about all this clearing cap room to gamble in the off season is that it further dilutes the league and the separation between championship teams vs crappy bottom dwellers become that much greater. Only one team will get lebron. Then all the other teams end up wasting all that cap room overpaying a player that doesn't deserve it. Even then, there's only one team that wins the championship, and so far it hasn't been lebron's team.....so that makes the gamble even more worthless.

With that said, I agree with the Wiz waiting to see if they can void Arena's contract before trying to trade away Jamison. The amount of money they're making right now, no matter how low, will be a blessing compared to the money they make after trading jamison away and losing every game thereafter. Having Jamison & butler plus some draftees is a better "rebuilding plan" than having a lot of cap space and draftees. The cap space will not be able to attract anyone that can turn that franchise around.

NBA really is set up to be a league built through the draft. Maybe even more so than the NFL. It's going to be really hard to convince a max player like LeBron, Wade, Bosh to leave their current teams when they would have to take 5mil less a year to do so.

It's a shame so many teams are so poorly run that they're losing money. Portland might be the biggest example.

Wow, I am in someone's quote.

Is that a bad thing or a good thing.

I stick by what I said, IMO Landry is untouchable as far as trades go.

I still think my trade of McGrady for a Slab of beer, and a broken down VC Commodore are fair in today's market. In saying this, I don't want Shaq in Houston. He doesn't deserve the honor.

IMO, Iggy is still the best we can get for McLady.

Shaq's an upgrade at center. Would give us the size to match the Lakers in the first rd. not to mention would help sell alot more tickets. And he's gone after the year. I'd rather do this than take on a bad contract beyond this year.

I'd rather Igoudala go to PHX and murk up that team some more.
