Trade Deadline: Smaller deals

I was interested in seeing what deals you guys could come up with on a smaller scale (no McGrady).

I suggested Cook/Andersen/Taylor for Barbosa/Collins in one thread.
Purely financial for Phoenix. I am not sure I like the way this deal effects our offseason capabilities.

Taylor and future conitional 2nd rounder for CDR.
CDR is not wanted in NJ anymore and I think he could blossom playing with Brooks.

Cook for Kwame Brown
Simple swap with Detroit.
Both are expirings. Gives us some immediate big man depth

Ariza for Expirings for max contract signings in the offseason
i.e.
Ariza to Boston for Allen/Scalabrine

(2 part trade)
Ariza to Orlando for T.E. from Turkoglu trade
Alston T.E. for Matt Barnes

Any others?

I like your creativity, these deals are certainly different then we are accustomed to seeing. Here is my beef with them though.

Trade #1: I don't like the idea of bringing in Barbosa. We already have an offensive minded PG in Brooks who is still under rookie contract. This deal forces the Rockets to play him at SG and I don't like having two PGs on the floor all the time. He also would take minutes from Bud and we don't want that. Lastly, I doubt the Suns trade him for just finacial relief. They would likely want a young player in return ala Lowry or Bud and should be a no-no on the Rockets behalf.

Trade #2: I like CDR and would do this trade, but isn't he suppose to be a head-case? Isn't that why the Nets are no longer high on him? If thats the case then he'd really struggle to see minutes here and could complain. Atleast Taylor knows his role and is ok with it for the time being. This one is a toss-up to me actually so idk.

Trade #3: No point for the Pistons to make this trade. I'd do it though.

Trade #4: I'd do it if the Magic were willing to pay that much money for him. Atleast get a 1st rounder from the Magic though.

Trade #5: Love it. Always liked Barnes.

Cook, cash to Milwaukee for Kurt Thomas. Bucks save some money. Rockets get a physical low post defender who has a little jumper.

Dorsey, the rights to Llull, the 2010 First to Portland for Rudy Fernandez.(As if!)
Or...
Dorsey,a future second(or cash) to OKC for Kyle Weaver.(This is for future. Weaver has very poor outside shot, but he is able to get past anybody on perimeter and penetrates looking to pass. Is very good feeding inside players. Tries hard on defense. Could be the playmaking SG to Brooks scoring PG.)

Trevor Ariza to LA Lakers for Adam Morrison (expiring) and two first round picks.

Why for LA: Kobe is hurting and they need someone who is familiar with the team so they can rest Kobe for awhile so he's fresh for the playoffs.

What about a deal revolving around TMAC, Dorsey/Andersen for Gortat.

Rockets would get the big they wanted this summer and the legit big THEY NEED.
And Orlando would get the cap relief as well as the major marketability of Vince and TMAC back together. Seems like that could be both teams "hitting their goals"

Plus Orlando seems to be a great trade partner for us.

Uhhh... Morey, your just about 17-18 million off from making this deal work. That trade isn't possible finacially.

lol, specially after rashards contract from heaven , and dwight howard, and vince carter dont have cheap contracts. good luck w/ that trade but i'd rather not anyway cuz dorsey has shown he can play just needs minutes and he's getting that just now, and andersen's cure may be time

i hope u were drunk or high when u brought that trade up

I don't think the management is ready to give up on Ariza. Yao's return could improve Ariza's game.

I also don't think LA will give us 2x 1st-round picks for him either.

Morey,
Not only did you bring up a trade that was financially impossible, you obviously didn't read my post or you would have noticed THIS IS NOT ANOTHER "McGRADY TRADE OPTIONS" THREAD.

well that's why i said those were the central pieces. the expirings and filler are just pawns.

I am just as happy to see McGrady Rot, and us take advantage of the cap relief this summer, frees up money for down the track.

Cook and 2nd Rd pick to Portland for Patty Mills (I like this, because then there are Two Aussies in Houston!)

Other than that, I am happy for Houston to stay with the team that they have, and just wait for Yao to be back healthy next year. As long as Landry goes nowhere, I don't care if we even make a trade!

time to revisit this thread.

What could we get for the expirings of Cook, Thomas, Armstrong?

I can't say that I wouldn't be in awe of that lineup, even as much as I've been opposed to Amare...

KThomas, Cook, Armstrong, Rodriguez for Stoudemire

Brooks/Lowry
KMart/Ariza/JT/Brooks
Battier/Ariza/JT
Stoudemire/Scola/Hayes
Yao(next year)/Stoudemire/Scola/Hayes/Anderson

Good grief! The only thing we'd be missing would be a legit second sg/sf instead of swinging Ariza back and forth.
