No one will trade with Daryl Morey ever again. . .

Post#1 » by Crackfool » Thu Feb 18, 2010 9:07 pm

Summary of trade negotiations:

Rockets: Who wants T-Mac?
Knicks: We do! What will it take to dump a year off Jared Jeffries's relatively small contract?
Rockets: Jordan Hill and two unprotected first rounders.
Knicks: Seriously?
Rockets: I hear that LeBron kid might be a free agent next year.
Knicks: I don't know. . . what if we add some protection to the picks?
Rockets: Hold on, we're in the middle of a negotiation with the Bulls. Actually, scratch that, we might just keep T-Mac.
Knicks: Wait! Let's discuss this!
Rockets: Hold on. . .
Rockets: Oh hey, you're still there. Guess what? We just traded T-Mac and Carl Landry for Kevin Martin!
Knicks: What!? But we wanted T-Mac! Can we get in on this trade?
Kings: For what?
Knicks: Will you take Jeffries's contract?
Kings: Hell no.
Rockets: We don't mind taking his contract. But. . .
Knicks: But what?
Rockets: You know what.
Knicks: Can we at least add a little bit of protection?
Rockets: Okay, I guess we can be a little generous. Deal, guys?
Kings: Deal!
Knicks: *grumble* . . . deal
Rockets: Wait, can you throw in David Lee as well?
Knicks: WHAT!?
Rockets: Just kidding! Deal

If he has the pieces like he had with the McGrady contract....people won't have a choice.

This was truly his first big bargaining chip and he turned into the best possible package we could get. Gotta thank the Arn Tellem as well for making the Kings agree to work with the Knicks.

The funny thing is that Morey was going to go through with T-Mac and Landry for K-Mart. Then Knicks insisted on getting a piece of the deal, and Morey essentially turned Sergio Rodriguez into Hill and 2 picks. Meanwhile the Kings just got Larry Hughes in exchange for sending T-Mac to NY.

Now people won't trade with Morey because they know they are going to get rip off.

It's basically the NY trade but with Kevin Martin instead of Larry Hughes.

And the protection is we get the 2011 Knicks pick unless its #1 overall. LOL and the 2012 as long as its not top 5. LOL.

Except that's what we said the last time Morey made a trade...

You have to listen when someone's talking deal in the NBA.
It's your own damn fault if you can't avoid getting fleeced, which didn't happen in this trade, really everyone made out like bandits - which is a really weird thing...
Morey 2020.

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?
A:Ask a stock market analyst or your financial advisor
