Jeffries will probably be our defacto "backup PF". Say what you will about him but he plays hard and he defends well. Coaches love guys like that. He'll play IMO.

Hill and Andersen will battle out for the remaining 16 minutes @ C.

I think we'll see less of Brooks-Lowry playing at the same time....Lowry will play less minutes at SG.

Maybe JJ won't be in the rotation, but I hope Hill gets incorporated somehow.

This is what i'm afraid of as well. I can see Lowry's minute going down to around 15 minutes a game.

Plenty of questions...not sure how AB/K-Mart will mesh, but if Lowry is the better fit for K-Mart's game, then maybe AB is a loser from the trade.

One of Ariza or Battier will have to start off the bench...hell, maybe K-Mart comes off our bench (at least initially) to provide plenty of scoring punch - the Landry role.

Why would Budinger be out of the rotation when it was reported that Morey considered him part of the team core (of course Landry was too).

Jeffries and Hayes are too similar. All D no O.

Martin essentially replaces Budinger. Morey may consider him part of our core but Morey doesn't coach this team.

We have Lowry, Budinger, Martin, Ariza, Battier fighting for 98 minutes at the 2/3 spot.

One of them guys gotta sit.

Seems most likely that Lowry may not be on the court with Brooks much anymore.

There's almost too much depth in the backcourt now. I'd even like to see more Temple. The frontcourt on the other hand is pretty thin. I hope Hayes will get some more minutes. Scola is a given obviously. I'm not very high on Hill, but he should be in the rotation. I'd play Battier some minutes at the 4, to give all those wing guys enough playing time. I could care less whom of Andersen and Jeffries gets to play. The one guy can't defend, the other can't score. I'd probaly play Andersen for now and see if he still has some upside/improvement in him. Jeffries will be ready when call upon.

yes, this will be interesting. I don't think Brooks and K-Mart have compatible games - both have scorer mentality, both are average-at-best defenders. Something has to give somewhere. One solution is Brooks off the bench for instant offense against 2nd units, but I dunno how that would affect him mentally since he's the current starter. Probably not well.

Rockets are considering waiving Cooks and sign Temple.

My take on the minutes distribution:

Brooks (32)/Lowry (16)
Martin (32)/Lowry (8 to 16)/Budinger (0 to 8)
Ariza (28)/Battier (20)
Scola (24)/Andersen (12)/Battier (8)
Hayes (24) /Scola (12)/ Andersen (12)

Budinger will have spot minutes (up to 8)
Jeffries will only play if there is a need to have defensive front court and Hayes is in foul troubles
Taylor and Hill will go to NBDL
Armstrong will be the cheerleader aka B. Cook
Temple just insurance to the PG. He play till Lowry is back.

Battier will play some PF minutes in a small ball lineup:
Brooks/Martin/Ariza/Battier/Scola

Sorry guys but you're missing a "small detail" which I doubt Adelman will miss: With Martin in, you'll need to cut either Brooks or Martin minutes. Both players need (and want) the ball, and they'll null each other most of the time. The same that happened in SACTO with Tyreke Evans. Thus, either Lowry will get more minutes at the PG, either Budinger. Quite curiously, I was reading all day on different teams boards and everybody talking about this trade mentioned this fact, which goes in an exact opposite direction that what this board thinks. I don't know if this is because you guys know the team better (and you're right) or because by being closer you're losing perspective (and you're wrong)

Either way, it will be exciting to see this new Rockets team and how the new offensive power will balance with some loss of D. Personally, I think at least at first, Battier will play over Ariza to give Brooks and Martin more freedom to "run and gun"

Idk what to make of the new rotation except that I dont expect JJ to be in the rotation regularly. Just spot minutes he and there. I hope Budinger doesnt start getting DNPs either. If anything we need to cut Ariza and Battiers minutes.

Call me crazy, but I'm seeing some Nellie Ball coming up. Definable not to start games or anything but for I can definable see it for stretches at a time.

he was wizards starting sg, check his status online on nba or yahoo, forward-guard

Jeffries can guard positions 2 to 5, but I see him primarily as a C/PF who's also capable of playing SF.
