Sergio Llull has good potential. When will his contract with Real Madrid expire? End of this season or next?

Don't tell Morey or he won't try to re-sign Kyle Lowry!

Morey is heartless like that.

"L & L Boys" 4 EVA !!!
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Llull is signed thru next yr. But he could always buy out of his contract. BTW,Larry Coons in his excellent CBA site mentions that teams are not limited to paying $500,000 to a buyout. It's just that everything over $500,000 counts towards salary cap. Morey said Les is committed to going over Lux Tax next yr-tho belive it when it happens-so a buyout that would get into the Lux Tax for one yr,while gaining a young player on a fairly cheap contract for the next few yrs is pretty smart.

I don't think the Rockets would see Llull as anything other than a fall-back for next yr,but the yr after that? That's when Aaron will want to get paid. Having Llull ready to go gives the team options on whether they think Brooks is still their guy or moving Lowry, picks as part of package for a 2011 FA.

Makes sense that next yr the Rockets will keep either Llull or Temple as bench combo Gd. Llull has played both PG and SG,and Temple played SG,SF for RGV and of course PG w/Rockets.

Plus, the better Llull looks, the more valuable he becomes as a trading chip.
Unlikely, but the Rockets could put together a really nice package for Bosh w/expirings such as Battier who could then be flipped if needed and a host of draft picks.
Strange as it may seem,Bosh could become the main man in Houston, which he likes the idea of. Altho Yao is the face of franchise,McGrady was always considerd the main man and Kevin Martin has been acceptable to taking the back seat to Crazy Pills and a rookie.

i think the earliest he'll play is 11/12 season. with the kmart trade and 2010 offseason, the team wants to build as much chemistry from now to next jan/feb. and if we go over the cap, i dont think he has a chacne to play next year.

There's a video on the Rockets' website where he's analyzed for about 4 minutes. He has a funky jump shot.

He is an athletic player who plays with great intensity, defends very well, has a good outside shot and his main virtue is its ability to change the game speed.
And yes, he can score, but not one of his strengths.

Careful with the effusive praise. I know he scored 29 points, and that's great. But Marco Jaric dropped 26.

So there's that.

Here is a discussion on a European forum about who are the best point guards in Europe:

http://forums.interbasket.net/f11/is-ru ... ard-12461/

As you can see, no one thinks Lull is among the best. Lull is an impressive player in terms of his motor, his north-south speed, and his leaping ability. But he is a poor man defender (his lateral speed is too slow to guard most European point guards) and on offense he is basically a spot shooter or a guy that will score off steals or lobs.

He's strong and he's actually more like 6-4 than 6-3. He plays at point guard, but he's not a point guard. He's a shooting guard with a bit of combo guard. His handle is excellent so that allows him to play as a point guard, even though he is clearly a shooting guard.

He is a good player and very talented and extremely athletic (whether in NBA or any other league) but I don't think he will be an impact NBA player. He is good enough to be on Spain's national team and on a big Euroleague club like Real Madrid but not as more than a role playing rotation player. Role playing rotation players on big Euroleague clubs and big European national teams can all play in the NBA, but they will not make an impact. You are talking about a third string point guard or third string shooting guard on Spain's national team and a backup on Real Madrid (a big Euroleague club but not an elite one).

So I think in the NBA he would be a backup point guard (just like he is in a good Euroleague club). But I do think he is better than Kyle Lowry. So he is nothing special and no one in Europe even considers him in the discussion for best point guards in Europe, but he would be better than Lowry is. It seems that some Rockets fans might be under the impression that he is a star in Europe, which is untrue. He would be an upgrade over Lowry, but not much more than that. He is a little bit more talented than Rudy Fernandez I think, but still something like a 6-8 man in a rotation. He is definitely an NBA level player though.

I think Lowry is quite special. He has the ability to become a starting PG elsewhere. I don't know much about Lul, but if he's indeed better than Lowry by all means bring him over.
