Kevin Martin really????

Post#1 » by MigrainePatrol » Sat Feb 20, 2010 9:50 pm

Honestly, this dude is literally Reggie Miller Part 2. 6'7 185lb and injury prone? Somebody pull up the record here, this guy sat out alot as well over the years. And he can never be 50% of TMAC when it's all said and done. Landry ain't worth losing for this dude... And of course I hate this trade...

Reggie Miller didn't just get old but the league's 2 guards became impossibly stronger than his measily frame could manage and that's what really drove him out the league. Maybe it's unfair to compare Martin to the shooting touch of Reggie but Rip Hamilton would be a nice comparison as well. Tracy was at worst a decent 210lb @ 6'8 but still incredibly strong. Martin doesn't have a chance and when he sits a couple of weeks after going up against the teammates in a physical Rocket's practice, the mistake of a lifetime will be revealed on Morey's part.

Reggie Miller? One of the BEST 2 guards in the History of the NBA played 18 years in the NBA and is a future 1st ballot Hall of Famer...
He also whooped Kobes ass :D in a Pacer Laker game... Kevin Martin is no where near Miller...

As far as I know Rip Hamilton never had issues with injuries and is also know for being extremely strong despite his appearance...

Yeah that and the fact that he was what? 40? How many 40 year olds are still playing in the league?

jahlil okafor has some of the best post moves in the last 30 years and the dude can't even get on the floor

most of Kevin Martin's injuries aren't lingering injuries like TMAC's was.

Broken Wrist that was misdiagnosed and caused him to miss way more time than he should have, sprained ankles, groin pulls.

I read a nice column on how hard Martin guns it in the offseason. The guy plays hard all the time and like Manu Ginobli because of the style of play they will miss a few games here and there. I will gladly take that if he continues to go all out all the time.

If he's Reggie Miller or Rip Hamilton.i'm ecstatic.

Kevin Martin is one 30 game injury away from becoming an untradable contract. And Brooks/Martin is less than ideal on defense in the backcourt.

He looked very complacent in his debut...

According to Ron Artest, Kevin Martin is BETTER than Reggie Miller.

Na I'm realistic. I think of him as a top 10 scorer (probably 7th), but not a top 10 player.

As a Kings fan who watched both Martin and Ellis play a lot a HEALTHY KMart is a better player than Ellis. Ellis gets his numbers like he does because of Nellie's system and the floor being spread with all the 3 point shooters. He's not a top 10 scorer. I don't think Kevin is a top 10 scorer either though.

Top 10 scorers=kobe, lebron, wade, durant, melo, dirk, bosh, roy, pierce(yes just because he doesn't average as many PPG anymore doesn't mean he doesn't have a better offensive repetoire than a guy like Ellis), Gasol, Joe Johnson. As far as being a scorer goes, I factor in things like FG%, can they get a good shot if you need a game winner, can you consistently feed them the ball, different things they can do, etc. Neither Martin and Ellis are there. Ellis's stats are inflated because he's surrounded by a bunch of 3 point shooters so he can drive and kick effectively and he's running around all day. Martin used to be able to get his own shot and finish really well and he also moved really well without the ball but now he's more interested in flopping and throwing crap up to try to get to the ft line.

In order:
1. Lebron
2. Carmelo
3. Kobe
4. Durant
5. Wade
6. Dirk
7. Martin

Last year he wasn't even fully healthy and he averaged 25 a game. This year he was averaging 30 until he got injured. Ellis' scoring numbers are inflated because of the way the Warriors play and I don't think Granger is the better scorer than Martin. You could make a case for Bosh, but I still think Martin is the better scorer when he's fully healthy. I would put Bosh at 8th.
