Well, if Bosh decides to leave to Houston, what is your best package you would give in a s&t.

Be honest and realistic and please no smart a** trades

The best package that you think your organization would give in order to get him.

oh, also no PF in return because we will be moving Bargnani to his natural position,

NO NEED FOR POWER FORWARDS

It would probably involve Battier, Jeffries, Budinger, draft picks, cash considerations, Trevor Ariza and/or Aaron Brooks.

I can't really see us dealing for Bosh though.

Scola, AB, Batt and Draft Pics... I personally don think we should trade at all.

Kevin Martin, Jefferies, & maybe a draft pick.
I guess TOR only really need a 2 guard which Martin would fill.

Something around Scola, Brooks, Jefferies or Ariza. Obviously other pieces would need to be added because of Scolas BYC issues. I can't see the Rockets trading much more. This is similar trade to what the Rockets gave up for T-Mac.

Would you guys really give up Brooks? His 3 point shooting is quite awesome...he is great for spacing the floor. Imo, you guys should try to keep Brooks, Ariza and Battier. Scola is expendable, Hill and some of the picks are expendable.

In my mind, the right sort of Rockets team for next season looks like this:

Brooks/Lowry
Kevin Martin/Bud
Ariza/Battier
Bosh/Gortat
Yao/Gortat

Pretty much everyone else on your roster is expendable. Brooks 3 point shooting spaces the floor better for Bosh and Yao. Limit Yao to 25 minutes a night, no B2Bs. See if you can pry away Gortat or the equivalent to play the remaining 36 big man minutes.

I strongly recommend keeping both Ariza and Battier if you can. You want to get to the WCF, so you need to get past Kobe, Durant, and Melo. Having two excellent wing defenders means you'll have an excellent chance of turning Kobe into strictly a jumpshooter.

I also recommend seeing if Gortat can be had. You could go the cheap route by getting a Camby or sticking with a Yao. But you simply will not have the size to compete with the Lakers front line. Add Gortat, and you have by far the best big man rotation in the league, and I think are better than the Lakers or any other team in the West. If you go the cheap route, you'll might get the job done, but it will be a bit more dicey.

Anyway, that is what I'd do if I were GM.

Would you guys do Ariza, Battier, Jefferies, Hayes, the Knicks picks and filler for Bosh and Turkoglu?

No, they would not. They don't want Turk, and are keeping at least one of Ariza/Battier.

Contrary to what one poster mentioned............Martin isn't going anywhere....Morey wanted him for several seasons and didn't make all that trade to give him away again.

I personally think Battier, Jefferies, sadly Budinger, anyone else that will be expiring next season and draft picks are the main things Morey will try to work trades with any team.....maybe Brooks, but I hope not.

You have to look at this from a Rocket's point-of-view and reconsider what you're asking for here. If this trade goes through, we're basically a mediocre team for the next 3 - 5 years like Chicago/Charlotte/Miami with no hope in the lottery or playoffs.

Probably a combination of Scola (Because with Bosh, Scola will not have the same amt of time), Jeffries and one other filler with a pick. {Yao (C), Bosh(PF/C), Hayes (PF/C), Hill (PF}

If not, it could be a package of Battier, Jeffries and another filler + a pick to match Bosh's salary. (This would probably Hayes may be shipped out due to his lack of play time. {Yao (C), Bosh(PF/C), Scola(PF/C), Hill (PF}

Brooks and Lowry are quite set i feel unless a trade for a top notch pg like Paul decides that he should join the Rox.
Kevin Martin is not moving since Morey and gang seems to be high on him.
Ariza will most likely stay or the Rox organization's reputation of keeping promises will stink.
I guess this is about it for those who are surely staying in H-town.

Everything depends on how much Bosh wants... i think this is an extremely critical factor that the Rox must consider. This opens up another question. How much do u think Bosh will ask for in his new deal?

No, we wouldnt.

You have to understand there is this internal war that goes on between Rocket fans. Lowry fans vs. Brooks fans. In our fan base there are what we call YOF, Yao only fans, who only follow the team because Yao is here. Brooks is a score first PG and gets a ton of flak from them because he doesnt walk it up the court and immediatley pass it to Yao. The YOF hate this and want to move Brooks for anything and have this misconceived notion that it would be completetely different with Lowry as the starter.

Management is smart and doesnt have this bias.

The best possible package would be Battier + Scola + Hill + Budinger + picks, but I doubt Morey ever gives up this much.

I think the most Morey gives are the assets he just aquired plus a litlle extra.

Battier/Ariza/Scola
Jordan Hill
NY's 2011 swap pick option
Either 1 of HOU or NY's 2012 1st round pick
Jefferies

FOR
Bosh

That should be enough. I dont see why we should giveup Brooks at all. He and Lowry are great for us. If we traded Brooks we'd have to find another PG to take his place. But where could we find a player can do what he does? Picks, a prospect, and solid player(s) is the most TOR will get from anyone. TOR has almost no say-so to be asking for young, cheap, bouderline stars.

Battier,Jeffries and 3 First Rd picks.
Battier is an expiring conttract who can still play a significant role. And he could still be traded to a contender for young talent, draft picks, etc.
Jeffries is decent role player who also has expiring contract who could be moved.
The picks are the main value, say this yr's Rox First, next yr's First(and it could be the Knicks') and the lessor of the two 2011 picks.
If the Rox were able to draft one of the young C's available, then it works well for both sides. Toronto gets a young C,a defensive SF,expiring contratcs and a couple more future picks.

The Toronto Raptors have the same dynamic. But instead Bargnani only fans, who think Bosh is holding back Bargs from true success.

BTW, how does it make sense to PREFER Lowry over Brooks as a Yao fan? Big men need PGs who can shoot, otherwise they get double teamed.

If Yao doesn't want to run, he doesn't have to, he can trail the set and let Brooks and whoever runs with him finish the break.

I'd be cool with that but Hill would never touch the court though. We'd have Yao, Bosh, Scola, Hill and Anderson. Not to mention Hayes if we wanted to bring him back.

If Scola is still here I'd rather keep our pick this year and trade Hill. It would be the best pick Morey ever had here. With Bosh our 4-5 would already be great. Yao, Hayes(resigned), DA, Scola, and Bosh.
I think Hill will become a really good player but I think Morey could draft us a player just as good for the other positions.

Lowry can run the fastbreak also, but I dont want to lose either 1. Its been said before, they're like a ying yang PG rotation and complament each other nicely. Brook's quickness & shooting and Lowry's playmaking & defence. I think that makes us very versatile.

Its frustrating to say the least, but I guess its something every fan base has to deal with. Our fanbase has always tried to manufacture rivalries between our players: Yao vs McGrady, Scola vs. Landry, Brooks vs Lowry. I dont get why people cant just be happy with depth.

It really doesn't. What has happened is that Yao has terrible hands and lateral movement so its really hard for him to establish position without getting fronted. YOF fail to see any fault in Yao, so its always someone else's fault he cant get the ball. If you go back to the playoffs last year, you will see alot of time we struggle to get Yao the ball in his ideal position because Pryzbilla was excellent at fronting.

Lowry has been deemed a "better passer" than Brooks, which is true...on the fast break or in a penetration play only. Ignorant fans think that a "better passer" will have an easier time getting Yao the ball, which is stupid, because Yao will still have bad hands, making it nearly impossible to catch the ball on any sort of cut/slash.

You do your fanbase justice Ripp, you really know your stuff. Ive read alot of your posts and you have a good handle on things from an objective point of view.

Alot of casual fans dont understand lineup synergies, defensive schemes, offensive sets, etc. All they see are box scores.

I don't know why people think Martin is untouchable, or that Toronto wouldn't need Martin to give up Bosh.

Look at that Toronto roster after Bosh

PG Jack/Calderon are good, though I could see them wanting Brooks
SG Derozan is decent young but the rest are very weak imo
SF set Hedo isn't going anywhere besides his value is probably pretty low right now.
PF Bargnani the future
C weak

Ariza is best at 3 and Hedo is there
Scola wouldn't start over Bagnani
Brooks (imo is are best player outside of Yao & Scola) & Martin would be the only players that would start for them.

Between Martin and Brooks we have to go w/ Brooks, he won't make bonehead plays late in games, such as taken steps before dribbling, or looking completely winded after 2 min in a game...

I see 2 & 5 as they most need positions and Martin seems to fit the Colangelo guard model
like Q Rich in PHX. and we dont have any good 5's.

Martin
Jerreries
Hill

I'd rather give up Martin than NY picks... unless of course Lebron signs in NY
