D'Antoni: "I don't like to play bad rookies.''

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Mon Mar 22, 2010 1:54 am

D'Antoni: "I don't like to play bad rookies.''

I have been checking out the Knicks board to get their thoughts on todays game and I have seen this quote mentioned more than once.

Did D'Antoni actually say this about Jordan Hill? Does anyone have a link to a story with him actually saying this?

If this is a true quote that that's just messed up right there. "I don't like to play bad rookies?" Has D'Antoni been hanging out with the "Jordan Hill was a bust before he ever suited up" crowd? Isn't D'Antoni the guy who chose not to play him?

Oh well...good for us! :)

Take it from me, Mike's a moron. Hill should have been given more minutes than he received here. And i'm not even a Hill fan.

Hill's starting to be a consistent 10-13 pt 5-7 rpg guy off the bench. Really starting to like him.

i never really liked D'Antoni's style. I felt Nash just made him look good in Phoenix. Sure, he has some ability as a coach but i think the Knicks could do better than him at the helm especially since they are a rich team.

he also doesnt like to play defense, or coach it, or have anything to do with it.

Nash has made lots of people look really good, including Bryan Colangelo and Marion. Will be interesting to see how Amare does next year w/o Nash.

That system makes Nash look good too...

But Amare is legit,
remember he was good before Nash too

They use him in iso often
He can post up, or face up
Take his man off the dribble
nice outside shot
so so dangerous in the pick in roll

Also this year he wasn't able to hit the gym due to his eye, so he came in much weaker than he would like too

He was born to ball, and nothing will ever slow him down
partially detached retina, micro-fracture surgery... nothing

I wish we got him.... If only.. :(

Mike Antonia is such a clown he shouldn't be allowed to speak to the media at all. He only makes himself look like a fool.

What does his eye have to do with him not being able to hit the gym?

Nash didn't make Marion look good I showed the stats before and Marion with or without Nash is basically the same with Nash...

Nash did help a bit with Marion's efficiency but it was a two-way street with those two... Marion also helped Nash to look good.

Thats a horrible question, which you could of found the answer yourself, using a search engine
and the terms detach retina & Intraocular pressure, or just eye injury would work too...

Anyway he needed bed rest and time away from from physical activity.
Exercise would increase ocular pressure, which would of lead to further damage and bleeding resulting in blindness(scary).

But yet as soon as he is fit to play you see him in good condition...

Whereas your homeboy Kevin Martin "McGrady 2.0" (same work ethic, half the talent) is still out of shape towards the end of the season...
At least T-Mac would finally be in shape at this time of year. They have got to be two of the laziest players.

False.

Take a look at Marion and Stoudemire's TS% before and after Nash:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... osh01.html
Marion from .513 to .556 and then .591.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... dam01.html
Amare from .536 to .617.

So I think you have to be really careful when attributing credit for those Suns teams. In retrospect, Nash probably deserves the lion share of the credit.

This is why I think it will be very interesting to see how Amare performs next year without Nash.

Actually... I am right in regards to Marion, I don't know about Amar'e. Nash did help both players efficiency as I mentioned before but now go and calculate the rest of their stats pre and post Nash, then pace and minute adjust them.
