Re: Final Roster Prediction
Found one more good one on that list on the last cuts by Indy to add to my target list: DT Terrance Taylor from Michigan. Wow, he was a 4th round pick this year, huh.

I also like Terrance Taylor from Michigan
A few names could surface as possible waiver claims for the Lions by Sunday's noon deadline.
Safety Bernard Pollard was waived by the Chiefs and he has some history with current Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham. Pollard has started 31 games over the last two seasons in Kansas City and is a hard-hitting strong safety who was the team's leading tackler with a career-high 98 stops in 2008.
The Vikings released former cornerback Marcus McCauley, a former third-round pick. McCauley could perhaps be an option for the Lions, who are looking for depth in the secondary. He's flashed enough potential over the last two years that he could be attractive to the Lions.

They are just gift-wrapping him for us. I watched a few preseason MIN games and saw McCauley make a few good plays, although it's not like I studied him that indepth, just casual observances. Hopefully this turns out to be a correct report.
Well we just scooped up McCauley! Hopefully we grab at least 5 more guys off the wire.

Re: Final Roster Prediction
The Lions have announced they have cut defensive end Ikaika Alama-Francis, cornerback Cletis Gordon and receiver Adam Jennings.
The team also announced the earlier reported trade of quarterback Kevin O’Connell to the New York Jets. According to a team press release, the Lions received an undisclosed future draft pick for O’Connell. The Lions grabbed O’Connell off waivers last week after he was cut by New England. He was a third-round pick of the Patriots’ last year.
They also have claimed return specialist Yamon Figurs off waivers, according to the National Football Post. Figurs, a third-year player, was waived by Baltimore on Saturday. in 2007, he became the first player in Ravens history to return a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown in the same season.
The Lions signed seven players to the team’s practice squad: receiver John Broussard, tight end Carson Butler, running back Tristan Davis, linebacker Zack Follett, center Dan Gerberry, tight end Dan Gronkowski and offensive lineman Lydon Murtha.
The trade of O’Connell and the release of Brooks Bollinger on Saturday could be a good sign that the Lions believe Drew Stanton will be ready sooner rather than later as he recovers from arthroscopic knee surgery.
The Lions have also reportedly claimed Minnesota Vikings cornerback Marcus McCauley off waivers.
McCauley, a third-round pick from Fresno State in 2007, was waved by the Vikings on Saturday and picked up by the Lions, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. McCauley, 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds, started one game last season after starting nine as a rookie.
Based on their last-place finish last year, the Lions get first dibs on players who have been waved.

Re: Final Roster Prediction
Here's a funny one,
Lions also signed to the PS G Dan Newberry per Tom K. I have no idea who that is as my research shows that no such player exists in the NFL....
http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/20 ... afran.html -- see last line
I tried googling Dan Newberry and the only link I can find is the one that takes me back to Tom K's article.
(The wink is to clarify the sarcasm, as Tom K constantly makes errors like this in his reporting and often says some really bizarre things that don't make any logical sense, sometimes I wonder if he's just bored with his job or if he doesn't truly care, but the sloppiness from him is just excessive and he's out of touch)
In other news I wasn't very happy with the overall transactions that the Lions have done this weekend. Oh well, there are some positive upsides to the moves they have made, but I really think that the Lions did a few teams a favor by letting a few too many good prospects slip right by them. I really wish that I had the inside information as to how they concluded to go with Copeland and Hobbs as well as why they passed on the others that were claimed. Copeland and Hobbs had terrible statistics in college, and haven't been able to win a job for the other teams that took a longer look on them so I have a hard time seeing the upside they have over the alternative prospects that got scooped up.

Re: Final Roster Prediction
Very happy Cason and Colbert are gone!!
Both of them hurt the team.
Also glad we could keep Murtha, Follett, Gronkowski, and Butler, even if it's on the practice squad. All of them are good young rooks who have shown good things.
Don't understand the cut of Schweigert. He played GREAT in preseason and heard good things about him out of OTAs.
I'm not surprised the team traded O'Connell, but am surprised they traded him AND cut Bollinger with Stanton still out and Culpepper still injured.
Mayhew said he's be active on the wavier wire and looking to keep the team moving forward. So far, he's holding true to his word.

McCauley, Hobbs, Bryan, the waiver wire pickups. I think that's all you are missing on quick glance.

Re: Final Roster Prediction
^ I know. I took him off the receivers and forgot to take him off my PR. But Figurs there instead. Also moves Derricks Williams back since he hasn't looked to good there yet. Williams has played well with the offense though as a backup receiver.
