Re: Sept27, 1:00PM Washington @ Detroit
I think the biggest thing for Stafford was that he was given time to make plays. He wasn't rushing because his O-line was actually protecting him. He also had guys that were catching the ball. He still overthrew a few passes, but he made adjustments. He just gets better and better. Playing him from the start was the best option. Even if the Lions only win 3 or 4 games, that experience for Stafford will pay off huge one, two and three years from now.
Our defense once again had a really good game. If they can keep teams from killing us early, it will give our offense a chance to build a lead and to keep some of the pressure off. We still have weaknesses defensively that I hope the team will address in the draft next year. Especially DT and CB.
Got Chicago next week. let's hope we can continue to build off these games.

I've forgotten what it is that one does after a victory. Pour coffee down one's shorts? Whack a pinata? Eat pretzel salt? Cheer? Yeah, that one sounds right.
It sounds like we had a solid game. Hopefully I can find somewhere online to watch it after the fact. We could give ourselves a reality check - we just barely beat a team that's a complete mess right now. But then there's the flip-side reality check - that a win like that is still a win, and it's something we haven't accomplished in well over a year. Congratulations Lions! Keep the streak alive!

Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

It's not an impressive win, in that the Redskins are a mess, but it's a big win, as in the Lions didn't find a way to lose it. Lions didn't win the superbowl, but they got a win. 1-2 is alot better than 0-3.
Last years team would have found ways to give the ball away and not make plays. This years team is fighting from opening kick to final whistle. They are fighting every snap. Sometimes that allows you to catch a break or two that you wouldn't have otherwise.
Sometimes you have to learn how to not lose, before you can learn how to win. This gets overlooked alot, but it's an important step. If this team can wins games that they are supposed to, they can build on that and get to winning games that are up for grabs, and eventually winning games they had no business winning.

Jeff, i saw you posted this about the win:
And i could not agree more. Everyone who doesnt live here thinks they get it. They dont. It was a big win and im glad the team came out and celebrated with the fans who have shown up and watched through this whole debacle.
I see some pundits taking cracks at the Lions coming out and making a victory lap, mingling with the fans and celebrating with the faithful. My message to you blowhards: Unless you live in Michigan, with our 3rd world economy, crumbling infrastructure, and culture of hopelessness, you cannot understand what impact this victory has for us. Good things so seldom occur, and when the Lions rise up from the primordial ooze and give us reason to smile and feel some sunshine, you’d better believe we’re going to savor it. This group of players is acutely aware of the suffering--they’ve been a major contributing factor after all--and their sincere gratitude to the crowd means a lot to the city and the state.

Agreed whole-heartedly. So glad someone said it. I've seen numerous artcles and analysts taking cracks at the team for celebrating with the fans. "They're acting like they won the superbowl!" They just don't get it.
